Call of Duty is a first-person shooter (FPS) franchise that is amongst the most popular gaming series in the world, and it releases a core game every year. It is also the bestselling FPS franchise ever, which has been verified by Guinness World Records, as has its status of being the most financially successful video game series to originate from the United States.

Leaks and rumors with alleged news are no strangers to video games, and Call of Duty has its fair share of them too. The next game in the series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, is said to borrow much from its predecessor Modern Warfare 2 while there also are new rumors on how the game in 2025 may follow in the footsteps of Modern Warfare 3.
What does the new Call of Duty leak claim?
As per noted leaker el_bobberto on X (formerly Twitter), the game due to be released in 2025 will feature remastered multiplayer maps, but not from Modern Warfare 2, which is the case with Modern Warfare 3. Instead, the as-of-now title-less game will use maps from another game in the series, namely Black Ops 2.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is recognized the by community as having some of the best multiplayer maps in the series, if not the best. However, leaker el_bobberto themselves admitted that fans should not take this information as confirmation of the fact, since the game is two years away and a lot can change between now and then. In fact, they said that it is highly likely that this might change.
How is Modern Warfare 3 different from other Call of Duty games?
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is attempting something new for a game in the series in several ways, starting with being a direct sequel to the previous year’s game, which is Modern Warfare 2. It is a direct continuation of the single-player campaign of that game, and will also utilize multiplayer maps from it, albeit from the original 2009 version.

It will also lack a completely new multiplayer mode of its own, another first for a game in this franchise. Instead, players will get to experience Modern Warfare 2’s overall style, weapons, unlocks, and more as that is being carried over to the upcoming game. Rumor has it that this gamble is owing to internal development struggles faced by the developer, Sledgehammer Games, that threw the release schedule into disarray and forced Treyarch, another developer, to release Cold War in a rush. It’s worth pointing out again that this is just an unconfirmed rumor, though.
