Rosa Salazar, who is known for her roles in the NBC series Parenthood, Netflix’s Brand New Cherry Flavor, and Robert Rodriguez’s 2019 sci-fi action film Alita: Battle Angel, is all set to appear in Captain America 4.
As per reports, Salazar is cast as one of the members of the villainous Serpent Society, Madame Hydra. Captain America: New World Order casting has been remarkably different so far. Although Marvel Studio is known for building hype around characters by only revealing a little bit of information, it is safe to say that even the supporting characters are going to impact Sam Wilson a great deal.
Rosa Salazar Has Officially Joined Captain America 4
According to a report by CBR, the Maze Runner actor Rosa Salazar has joined the new Captain America film. Making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, Salazar will play Rachel Leighton, also known as Diamondback. In the Marvel comics, Leighton has a complex relationship with Steve Rogers. The makers of the new Captain America film could bring her to give a hard time to Sam Wilson in the movie.
Several other celebrities also joined the movie making a distinguishing hype around it. Prior to Salazar, WWE Superstar Seth Rollins joined the movie and will also be a villainous member of the Serpent Society. However, Rollins’ character is still under wraps. As per speculations, Rollins could play King Cobra, the leader of the Serpent Society with the superpower of elasticity in the comics. Also, the WWE superstar is quite fitting for the role of Frank Payne aka Constrictor.
Rollins has already been seen on set, a viral photo of him wearing the slick black leather jacket cleared a lot of doubt among fans, at least they can assume he is a member of the Serpent Society. Salazar and Rollins being together in the same villainous society could highlight the backdrop of the society and their devilish plans to stand in the way of the new Captain America.
The Villains of Captain America: New World Order
It is almost certain that Captain America’s nemeses Serpent Society members will bring chaos to the new world order of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Salazar and Rollins being members of society enhance the importance of their presence on screen. Marvel also revealed bringing Old Henry and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs actor Tim Blake Nelson onboard. According to reports, Nelson will return to the MCU as Samuel Sterns aka The Leader, a notorious villain and archnemesis of Bruce Banner. Nelson’s character appeared in The Incredible Hulk in 2008 but has been absent from the universe since.
He was almost set to appear in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law before his confirmed appearance in Captain America 4. Earlier, She-Hulk writer Jessica Gao said in an interview with ComicBook.com, “In my original pitch, I did have The Leader in there.” Gao said,
“Just as an option, as a suggestion, you know? But really, I can’t remember why [it was scrapped]. I don’t remember if it was organically taken out, because we just came up with other stuff, or if we were told no. I honestly don’t remember. But there was thought about either bringing him back or doing some version of a new version of Leader, or some relation to him. But, I mean truly, this was three years ago, and the show has evolved so much that I don’t remember what actually happened.”
Apart from the villainous entries, the movie also features Harrison Ford as General Thunderbolt Ross, Danny Ramirez as the new Falcon, and Shira Haas as Sabra.
Captain America: New World Order is slated to release on 3 May 2024.
