The Kingsman franchise by Matthew Vaughn has garnered immense popularity since the release of the first – Kingsman: The Secret Service in 2015. The lead actors, such as Colin Firth, Taron Egerton, and Mark Strong displayed robust character development over the course of the two films.
Although the second installment – Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017) added more to the roster, like Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum, and Julianne Moore, it now appears that another major celebrity is up for taking on the role of the bad guy in Kingsman: The Blue Blood.
The Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is rumored to be appearing as the villain in the upcoming direct sequel to the 2017 film. Vaughn and Egerton both revealed in separate interviews about his villain avatar for the $934 million franchise.
Kingsman Franchise Banks On Highly Enigmatic Villains
Samuel L. Jackson, playing Richmond Valentine in Kingsman: The Secret Service, gave the audience a look into the character’s billionaire villainous attitude who was bent on ending humanity.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle cast Julianne Moore as Poppy Adams and Pedro Pascal as Whiskey. Moore’s character was highly unpredictable and ran a drug cartel, while Pascal wielded a lasso at his enemies.
Dwayne Johnson’s entry into the franchise as another enigmatic villain would mean gathering all the mightiest ones led by Colin Firth’s Harry Hart and Taron Egerton’s Eggsy to put an end to his dark plans.
The director also teased in an interview once that he was inclined toward casting Dwayne Johnson and told that the story is mapped out, as per MovieWeb.
Taron Egerton Spilled The Beans on Dwayne Johnson’s Arrival
Taron Egerton, in 2017, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the sequel and a lot more as the publication asked him who he would like to see as the villain.
He confessed that he had great admiration for Dwayne Johnson and that the director told him what would the antagonist be like in the next.
“I know who the character is and it’s nothing like this actor, but I love Dwayne Johnson. I think he’s the right fit for it, but the villain role Matthew has described to me is not Dwayne Johnson.”
The Hollywood Reporter also asked him if Samuel L. Jackson would come back for another outing, to which he said – “I’d like to, but I don’t think it will happen. There is a limit to how much you can bring back characters that have died,” indicating toward Firth’s character coming back.
The Kingsman franchise is streaming on the Disney+ platform.
