Iman Vellani Co-Writes Her Ms. Marvel Revival in the Comics

The death of Ms. Marvel in the Comics was received very negatively by fans worldwide as an uproar had begun against Marvel for such a horrid issue. The death of the superhero was the result of her getting stabbed in the back by villain Rabin, who mistakes her for Mary Jane, as she was dressed up as such. It turned out to be a very controversial decision by Marvel Comics.

Following the negative reviews and remarks, the young superhero is scheduled to be resurrected in the next issue, the X-Men Hellfire Gala storyline, but she will become more like a mutant and an Inhuman. The issue will be brought to realization by Kamala Khan actress, Iman Vellani herself, along with Sabir Pirzada and others who worked on the series.

“This was way scarier than joining the MCU for me. Those projects feel like they live in their own dimension, so I guess I can separate myself easier. But you can hold a comic book!

I’ve never written anything before in my entire life, but I have read many comics, so I just wrote what I would want to read. I was given a very professional tool to write what is essentially my own fan fiction.”

In an Entertainment Weekly exclusive, the Ms. Marvel actress, Iman Vellani shared that she, along with Sabir Pirzada will co-write the upcoming issue. The actress claims that although she has always dreamt of writing her version of comics, she couldn’t believe that she would be scripting up her superhero character, moreover, in Marvel Comics. Marvel Comics is arguably one of the best and leading comic franchises of this generation, with hundreds of millions of fan following and a loyal fan base.

The New Comic Will Be Titled Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant

The release of Terrigen Mists gave Ms. Marvel her powers, but her newfound mutant identity doesn’t take the place of her Inhuman past. As a substitute, it provides Marvel’s first significant Muslim superhero with a completely different persona to contend with. It’ll likely be difficult because of the longstanding hostility between mutants and Inhumans. Iman Vellani says,

“I want to make it very, very clear that we are not reconning her Inhuman origin. That’s a part of Kamala’s identity that Marvel editorial and myself would very much like to keep and protect”.

Like her on-screen counterpart, Kamala is now a mutant in the upcoming comic book series Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant. That also explains why she’s returning so quickly; as current Marvel readers are aware, the X-Men are experts at bringing mutants back to life.
