Ty began his acting career at a young age, appearing in the 2013 Doctor Who documentary The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot. His first acting role was in Tolkien, playing the younger Christopher Wiseman, played by Tom Glynn-Carney. In the same year, he played Tom Gresham, Emily’s younger brother in the science fiction series War of the Worlds starring Daisy Edgar-Jones.
Along with Sebastian Croft, he co-starred as the Dead Boy Detectives Edwin Paine and Charles Rowland in season 3 of the DC Universe television series Doom Patrol in 2021. He also made a special appearance in an episode of the BBC One drama Casualty and had a cameo in Around the World in 80 Days. He later appeared in the fantasy series House of the Dragon.
Ty Tennant is the son of Georgia Moffett before she married David Tennant, and he was adopted by David when he met Georgia on the sets of Doctor Who. Ty’s maternal grandfather is actor Peter Davison, who played the Fifth Doctor in Doctor Who. His paternal grandfather is Sandy McDonald, who was a producer and director. Ty began acting professionally in 2019 and completed his Sixth Form at the ArtsEd private school in Chiswick. His father, David, and his maternal grandfather, Peter Davison, are two members of his family who have both previously portrayed the enduring character of Doctor Who.
Ty Tennant has recently played a couple of ‘nepo-baby’ roles to stereotypical perfection
Recently, the actor has played ‘nepo-baby’ roles in a couple of acclaimed series’ that he has worked on; which seemingly proves that he isn’t afraid to be subject to all kinds of things fans and critics alike usually have to say, with respect to nepotism. He plays the role of a young Aegon II Targaryen in House of the Dragon (the son of Viserys I Targaryen), who is an absolute brat who is coddled by his mother, and eventually goes on to become the sixth Targaryen king to sit on the Iron Throne.
He also recently played the role of Ennon, the son of Job who is snarky enough to remind Michael Sheen’s angel Aziraphale, that he is the son of Job, “..literally God’s favorite human.” Given his spectacular performance as both his recently portrayed characters, he seems to have embraced any possible comments that could come his way about his career in Hollywood.
