After Hollywood Shattered Him, The Rock’s $800M Fortune Saved By $3.5 Billion Brand as it Becomes “Fastest Growing Premium Spirit in US History”

After Hollywood Shattered Him, The Rock's $800M Fortune Saved By $3.5 Billion Brand as it Becomes "Fastest Growing Premium Spirit in US History"

The Rock is one of the wealthiest Hollywood celebrities. As per Celebrity Net Worth, he is worth $800 million. He has his own production company, Seven Bucks Productions, that has made several hits like Rampage, Skyscraper, Jungle Cruise, Red Notice, and more. But his enormous wealth isn’t just from making and starring in high-profile tentpole films, but also from side businesses.

One of these businesses is Teremana Tequila which he co-owns with the Mexican Lopez Family. The company recently became the fastest-growing Spirit brand after selling 1 million case volume in the shortest time ever. It looks like the tequila just saved Johnson’s fortunes from plummeting and the actor is thankful for that.

In an interview with CNBC, Dwayne Johnson talked about achieving the much sought-after milestone for Teremana Tequila. He explained that the company’s meteoric rise came as a surprise to him because they began their business when everything was shutting down due to the global pandemic. He said:

“When we launched Teremana it was a unique time. It was March 2020 and businesses were shutting down. I did feel at that time that we had a shot to create an experience for the consumer even though as we all know at that time consumers only wanted what they were familiar with. And being a new brand in the marketplace we had our challenges.”

However, The Rock believes that he was indeed able to create something special with global distribution & legacy partners, Mast Jäegermeister. After all, Teremana Tequila has now become the fastest-selling premium US spirit. The actor said:

“But we did create something special and now a few years later Teremana has become the fastest premium spirit in the US and the fastest to reach that one million case milestone. It has really been an incredible journey and the best part is that we are just getting started and we have a lot of work to do.”

The Black Adam star must be thankful for this achievement because recently he suffered a couple of setbacks in quick succession in his professional career. One was the departure from DC after his Black Adam film performed poorly in theaters and another was the exit from the mega Fast and Furious franchise after his public spat with Vin Diesel. But thanks to Teremana it looks like his massive wealth won’t be taking a hit.

The Rock already has a massive wealth of $800 million. If he sells his Teremana Tequila brand, which is already setting sales records, he could very well become a billionaire. It must certainly be tempting after losing two high-profile franchises. But the actor and businessman has no plans to do so and instead wants to go international. The Red Notice star has also said that he is in it for the long haul.

He explained:

“There is no exit plan, I created Teremana to be a legacy brand and I am in it for the long haul. The goal is to continue to create experiences here domestically for our US consumers but also internationalize the brand and become the very first true international tequila brand in the marketplace, that’s gonna take a lot of time…this is a family business, this is a legacy business and this is a long game business for me and Teremana Tequila.”

The actor also explained that even though there’s an agave shortage, he and his team are “positioned nicely to continue to manage the ebbs and flows of agave distribution problems.” It remains to be seen how much The Rock can grow his legacy brand internationally.
