Marvel Studios is currently going through mayhem as major projects are repeatedly being sent for reshoots and writers are going on strike. Amid such chaos, Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige reportedly called out the upcoming Disney+ series Echo, “unreleasable”. However, it’s not just Echo facing the reshoot treatment, even Ironheart is allegedly facing the same fate.
It appears that amid messy situations, Marvel Studios is pushing two highly anticipated series, Ironheart, and Echo, into 2024. Constantly witnessing the release date of the series being updated, fans can’t help but wonder, if both the shows are facing the reshoot treatment. Netizens’ curiosity skyrocketed following rumors of Sacha Baron Cohen secretly filming in Los Angeles.
Echo Faces Reshoots Amid Writers’ Strike
It appears, Marvel Studios is trapped in their own multiverse of madness as chaos overpowers them. As per recent reports, Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) is taking aim at Marvel Studios, to derive a liveable wage and seek fair compensation for talented writers. Picketing the filming locations of Marvel Studios Disney+ series, writers are crowd fighting for their payment agreements.
Amid such disruptions, it wouldn’t be surprising to witness several Marvel series temporarily stopping the rolling of cameras due to a lack of writers. However, despite the messy situation plaguing the Studios, President Kevin Feige appears disappointed with the upcoming Disney+ series Echo. Reportedly calling it “unreleasable” Kevin Feige sends the series for a reshoot.
According to The Hot Mic podcast host Jeff Sneider, “The show was kind of plagued by issues throughout production”. He further added, “I heard that it was a mess and that the show came in so bad that they basically had to reshoot the entire thing.” Previously making eight episodes of the series, Marvel decided to cut it down to four or six. “I’m told that they originally shot eight episodes, and [Kevin Feige] thought it was unreleasable, so they talked about cutting it down to four episodes, or six in post,” Sneider added.
However, Echo isn’t the only series that appears to be going for reshoots. Evidently, Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ironheart is allegedly joining to witness the reshoot treatment.
Alleged Reshoots For MCU’s Ironheart
Comparing the earlier phases of MCU, as per Phase 4, the studios produced the maximum number of titles in fewer years. However, pacing into Phase 5 and 6, Kevin Feige reportedly confirmed, “The pace at which we’re putting out the Disney+ shows will change so they can each get a chance to shine.” Thus it appears, MCU is tactically slowing down the production of movies and shows by repeatedly sending them for reshoots.
Evidently trying to avoid the situation where people get tired of watching superhero movies and series, the studio is thus shifting the directive. Therefore, amid such unnecessary dark clouds hovering over MCU, it has been speculated that Sacha Baron Cohen‘s Ironheart is currently going through reshoots. Originally scheduled to debut in late 2023, Ironheart is now expected to debut in 2024. Postponing the release of the series, Marvel Studios is yet to set a firm date.
Witnessing the postponement of the release date, and spotting Sacha Baron Cohen shooting in Los Angeles, fans came up with solid speculations of reshoots. Playing the much-awaited extra-dimensional demon Mephisto, Cohen and his co-stars apparently wrapped up production and were most likely done with post-production, when order came for reshoot.
Reportedly attempting to “chill out” a bit in releasing content, Marvel Studios is said to be delaying the release of Echo and Ironheart.
