For the longest time, Channing Tatum’s graceful moves on the dance floor, physique close to perfection, and those dreamy eyes have kept us company through the era of the dance revolution in Hollywood. On the contrary, the actor, despite being recognized primarily for his dance and action movies, is a rather talented man skilled in the art of comedic timing.
And by the courtesy of his years of experience and veteran status in the industry, variety in his appearances is something he gets to indulge in without being potentially pigeonholed into a certain category of typecast roles.

Channing Tatum Finally Stepping Into the Marvel Franchise?
After a long and arduous wait, there has been some update on the Channing Tatum front, soon after his appearance on the final Magic Mike installment, a short yet highly memorable Bullet Train cameo, and the ridiculous and maddening performance on Sandra Bullock starring film, The Lost City. Tatum’s ability to affect a lasting impression on those around him has brought him thus far in Hollywood, but skill is not to be confused with a lack of hardship and resistance when it comes to making it big.
Channing Tatum, despite his breakout role in the 2006 film, Step Up, quickly stepped up his game by starring in a diverse range of roles to make himself adaptable to Hollywood’s evolving landscape. Action film G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, buddy cop comedy 21 Jump Street, romantic dramas The Vow and Dear John, to the Wachowski sisters’ sci-fi thriller Jupiter Ascending – all of these were performed within the duration of the decade after breaking out in ʼ06.
Of the numerous films, however, it was the 2009 G.I. Joe franchise that broke his will to star in an action film. Tatum reportedly rejected the script seven times before taking on the part, and that too, only to honor the deal he had with Paramount Pictures. When the time for a sequel came, he begged the director to kill his character off as he didn’t want to invest any more time in the obviously failed franchise.
His roles, although now much less frequent than they once used to be, are fulfilling perhaps to the actor who worked tirelessly for the majority of the past two decades. And among the projects that had taken up his undivided attention and unprecedented passion was the Marvel comics adaptation of Gambit which has remained on the scaffolding of the production lineup since before Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox.
Channing Tatum’s Heartbreak Increases Following Gambit?
Despite Channing Tatum’s recent revelations about the unproduced status of the Gambit superhero film, Marvel and Foxverse fans still hold out hope for the A-list actor to bring the X-Men universe hero to the live-action screens. Gambit’s first appearance which was determined to be a cameo in the 2003 Foxverse film was later erased with the promise of bringing in a better-known actor in a more invested capacity to adapt the character into live-action. However, the film which was deemed to be among the X-Men lineup recently fell through in early 2023. Tatum blamed studio interference.
Now, as Disney holds all the cards (aka Marvel and Fox) under its one conglomerate umbrella, and with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool making a supersonic debut in the Marvel mainstream universe, the opportunity to have Channing Tatum make an eager appearance under the shared X-Men x MCU banner while also getting a foot in the door at Marvel becomes a glaring and unmistakeable advantage for the studio to have after the highly disappointing Phases 4 and 5. And looking as to how Reynolds is the king of all cameos, it shouldn’t be too hard for him to sweet talk a negotiation for having Gambit in his film as well.
