The first official trailer of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has created a frenzy among fans for almost every possible thing about the sequel. The trailer has impressive animation, an exciting storyline, along with references to some fan-favorite Spider-Men. And with its trailer release gives some clue about what might be the consequences of Miles Morales’ multiversal adventure. One such theory suggests that Miles might try to change his destiny as he doesn’t want to lose anyone on his journey as Spider-Man.
Miles Fighting His Destiny in Across the Spider-Verse
The international trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse starts with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield’s voiceover. All three heroes emphasize how their sacrifices have made them real heroes. They all lost someone they loved or were very close to.
As the trailer progresses, Shameik Moore‘s Spider-Man is introduced followed by the words, “One Spider-Man will change his destiny.” His destiny is to lose someone he loves or someone close to him. Further, it shows how Miguel O’Hara tries to stop Miles as he tells him, “Being Spider-Man is a sacrifice.”
Peter B. Parker can also be heard saying that he has a choice between saving a person or saving every world. The trailer ends with an announcement telling Spider-People to stop Miles as he believes that he can be the one Spider-Man who will change his destiny by saving everyone.
It is also being discussed that losing his uncle Aaron Davis in the 2018 film was a sacrifice for Miles. But the trailer suggests that he might come close to losing someone again. Miles who is not accepting his destiny is trying to change it by every means possible. And everyone is trying to stop him as his actions could be threatening to the Spider-Verse.
Who Will Miles Morales Lose in the Sequel?
The trailer for Across the Spider-Verse seems to imply Miles Morales’ father, Jefferson Davis could be the one his sacrifice as the superhero. The trailer sets up a plot where Miles seems too busy with his superhero lifestyle and starts losing touch with his parents. Her mother Rio Morales is very upset with her son’s behavior.
One of the sequences also shows his father falling off a ledge, and fans believe that he could be the one Miles loses on his journey as Spider-Man. In comics, he loses his mother, and after discovering his double life, his father blames him for losing Rio and Aaron.
However, things seem to take a different path in the sequel, as one of the highlights of the first film was Miles’ relationship with his father. He could be the one that Miles loses in the sequel.
It is also believed that he could save his father and successfully change his destiny. However, it would have some dire effects on Spider-Verse, leading to the plot of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will release on 2 June 2023.
