Although not yet a year old, A Plague Tale 3 seems to already be in development following the widely acclaimed 2022 title, A Plague Tale: Requiem. Asobo Studio’s franchise has thus far been very well received by fans and critics, so it should come as no surprise that a sequel is already in the works. As spotted in some job listings made by the studio, the studio is recruiting for its next project already.
While the studio is hiring for many positions, some for its team that works on Flight Sim, several of them are for the studio’s Plague Tale team, including positions for a senior game designer, a senior gameplay animator, a senior AI programmer, and a VFX artist, suggesting that A Plague Tale 3 is in the early stages of production, or a DLC for Requiem.

In fact, Asobo Studio even outright states that it intends “to strengthen the team being A Plague Tale: Requiem from the pre-production phase” so unless its next planned title from that team is something else entirely, it seems likely that the studio is indeed gearing up to start development on A Plague Tale 3 soon, if it has not done so already. Given that the listings are all specifically for “Plague Team” though, it seems likely that it is indeed the threequel.
All Signs Point to A Plague Tale 3
The evidence further suggests that the next game is A Plague Tale 3 when the listings note that it is a plus if the applicants have already played both of the franchise’s previous titles, Innocence and Requiem. It’s hard, therefore, to imagine that this would be all that relevant if the new game were something wholly unrelated to those titles.
Asobo has seen a lot of success as a result of the franchise. Not only did both titles in the series garner excellent reviews and strong fan reception, but there is already a television series adaptation in the works with an Inglorious Basterds alum at the helm as director. As such, A Plague Tale 3 could serve to garner further positive attention to the studio.

Despite not being owned by Microsoft, Asobo has enjoyed a close relationship with the tech giant for some time now. Even as far back as 2016, Asobo was assisting in the development of ReCore, published by Microsoft Studios. Later, Asobo was signed on to develop Microsoft Flight Simulator, and currently, the studio is hard at work on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, due out next year. Requiem launched on GamePass Day 1, so it is highly possible that A Plague Tale 3 may do the same whenever it launches should the good relationship continue.
It is also possible that Asobo could be gearing up to produce DLC for Requiem rather than jumping into A Plague Tale 3 right away. If this is the case, it could be much sooner that we see new content in the critically acclaimed franchise. Until more official information is available, however, all we know for sure is that more content is coming from the Plague Team.
