Chris Pratt is proving to be a bankable name for studios as he continues to deliver billion-dollar successes one after the other. Despite the backlash he has faced for his controversial comments over the years, he is continuously delivering successful movies and TV shows across all mediums.
All 3 Jurassic World movies entered the Billion Dollar Club and now The Super Mario Bros. Movie is going to secure a similar feat within April itself. All of Pratt’s MCU ventures have been successful and his 2022 series, The Terminal List proved to be a major crowd-puller for Amazon.
But that’s not where Chris Pratt’s success story would end as he is set to star in some major blockbuster movies and much-anticipated TV shows in the coming 3 years. Following is the list of all upcoming movies and series that Pratt will appear in after Super Mario Bros.
All Upcoming Chris Pratt Movies and TV Shows
1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Chris Pratt will begin the season of 2023’s summer movies with James Gunn’s final Guardians of the Galaxy outing. Gunn has stated that this will be the last Guardians movie with the current lineup. So, it’s possible that Pratt’s Star-Lord will lead the Guardians one final time against The High Evolutionary.
Then he could retire from the team and might only return in the Avengers crossover events. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives on May 5.
2. Garfield
After Mario, Pratt also signed up to lend his voice for the role of Garfield in Sony’s newest animated adaption from Alcon Entertainment. Mark Dindal is directing the film, which is reported to be based on a script by David Reynolds. But Pratt won’t be the only big name in the film as it stars other familiar actors including Hannah Waddingham, Nicholas Hoult, Brett Goldstein, Samuel L. Jackson, and Ving Rhames.
Besides his recent stint in Mario, Chris Pratt has lent his voice to multiple other characters including Emmet in The Lego Movie and Barley Lightfoot in Onward. So, one should be excited for another family outing from the actor as his lasagna-loving cat arrives in theaters on May 24, 2024.
3. The Electric State
The Russo Brothers found major success with 2022’s The Gray Man. Now, their next movie is another all-star ensemble for Netflix which features Millie Bobby Brown, Anthony Mackie, and Giancarlo Esposito along with Chris Pratt in the lead. The film’s narrative is set in an alternate United States where a civil war between humans and robots has broken out.
Pratt plays Keats, a smuggler who comes across Brown’s character Michelle during her journey to find her brother. Besides Pratt, The Russos also reunited with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame writers, Christopher Markus, and Stephen McFeely who are adapting The Electrical State’s script from Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel of the same name.
This sci-fi adventure film hits Netflix sometime in 2024.

4. The Terminal List Season 2
All 8 episodes of Amazon’s The Terminal List comprised a gripping story featuring Chris Pratt as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece, who uncovered a military conspiracy and brought the killers of his team to light. On February 3, Prime Video greenlit the series for a second season, which Pratt promised would be “even more intense and action-packed than the first.” Here’s what he said while announcing the show:
“I’m excited to announce that the second season of The Terminal List is on its way, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to reprise my role as James Reece. This season promises to be even more intense and action-packed than the first, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”
If The Terminal List season 2 is what Pratt will begin working on next, then we should expect the series to arrive in late 2024 or early 2025.
5. The Terminal List Prequel Show
A second season for The Terminal List wasn’t the only project that Prime Video announced as the streamer also confirmed a prequel centered on Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards, who played a supporting role in the original.
While speaking about the prequel, Pratt confirmed his involvement in Kitsch’s prequel series as he said:
“And for those who are fans of Taylor Kitsch’s Ben Edwards, I’m happy to say that we’re also working on a spinoff series that will delve deeper into his story and follow his journey from a Navy SEAL to a CIA operative. And to make it even more exciting, I will also be appearing in this prequel series! I promise you it will be just as thrilling and engaging as The Terminal List. Stay tuned for more updates and we can’t wait for you all to join us on this journey.”
It will be interesting to see if this untitled prequel gets priority over season 2, or if it’s the other way around.
Unconfirmed Future Projects
1. Super Mario Bros. Sequel
With the kind of success that The Super Mario Bros. Movie has proven to be, we can expect to see a sequel, if not an entire cinematic universe be spawned out of the film. The first one will go way beyond just $1 billion, so a direct sequel with Chris Pratt voicing Mario and Charlie Day voicing Luigi is a surety. It might happen 2-3 years down the line. But needless to say, Nintendo and Universal/Illumination will come up with more movies set in the Mario Universe.
2. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty or Avengers: Secret Wars
Star-Lord has suffered a lot in the MCU. He lost his mother, Yondu, and Gamora, and lost 5 years of his life after Avengers: Infinity War. Then he finally found his sister in the Guardians Holiday Special. So, it’s likely that he might get to retire in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 instead of sacrificing himself.
And since he might retire from the main team, that opens him up to appear in one or both of the next two Avengers movies. So, we could see him showing up in The Kang Dynasty. Or if Pratt needs a break from the MCU, then he could straightaway appear in Secret Wars.
3. Cowboy Ninja Viking
This movie is supposed to feature Pratt alongside Priyanka Chopra. It had been announced way back in 2018 when Pratt was cast as the leading man Duncan, who suffers from multiple personality disorder. But a government program turns him into a super soldier who has the attributes of a Cowboy, a Ninja, and a Viking. But nothing has come out of this action movie yet. So, there’s a chance that this film will never happen.
