Many Ryan Reynolds fans were ecstatic when the R.I.P.D. trailer launched, showing the 46-year-old actor executing action stunts alongside Jeff Bridges. There was clearly a rush of excitement for the film, but fans were disappointed with the plot. During an interview, Bridges explained why the movie didn’t do well according to him. Even though the 73-year-old actor himself was very hopeful about the film still he said he felt underwhelmed at one point. The True Grit actor said,

“I had such a great time working on that movie. I remember what we were doing. I thought, This could be fun to see. And when I saw it, I was a little underwhelmed. For my mind, the studio made some, uh, choices that I wouldn’t have made.”

He further added,

“I remember when someone pitched me the project, I couldn’t quite grasp what they were talking about. It’s kind of fun when the movie’s coming out. It’s like having a horse in the race. And they’re lining up, and they’re off! And you’re rooting for your horse. And in this case, the jockey fell off the horse and you came in last.”

The movie was called a box office bomb as it earned only $78 million at the box office. Reportedly, the budget of the film was much more than what it had collected at the box office.

During an interview in 2013 before the release of the movie, the Red Notice actor was asked what he think about box office earnings as the producer of the movie. While talking about being a producer, Reynolds said,

“ I think everybody involved in a movie thinks about the box office. It’s the biz part of showbiz. It’s an inevitable part of the deal. But I’m not a producer on the movie. I’m an executive producer. There’s a huge difference. A producer is someone who actually calls the shots. An executive producer is just a guy that eats more food at craft service.”

The movie was packed with some great action scenes and comedy moments but still, it couldn’t impress the audiences. Bridges and Reynolds both were very hopeful about this movie but it turned out to be a disaster for both the actors.
