The hit BBC show Peaky Blinders is one of the most-watched series on Netflix. The show started slow until it gained accelerating success. The actors playing in it are half of its victory while the other half would be the engrossing story set in 1919 post-war Birmingham.
Everyone knows who the Shelby brothers and their famous relatives are. But do fans know that there were other popular actors in the show? One might have seen these actors from other movies and television shows. Regardless, they played notable roles in the show. Can you recognize all of them?
Anya Taylor-Joy
From her face alone, you will recognize her from the hit Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit as Beth Harmon. Anya Taylor-Joy portrayed Gina Gray in Peaky Blinders, the American wife of Michael Gray. She is characterized as a woman with strong influence over her husband. She is also capable of making power plays on the Shelby family.
Her other notable films include Emma, The Split, The Miniaturist, and The New Mutants. She has an upcoming psychological thriller film entitled Last Night in Soho.
Tom Hardy
Arguably the most known actor in this list, Tom Hardy played as Alfred “Alfie” Solomons, the leader of a Jewish gang. He has a complicated relationship with Thomas Shelby. His character is violent and unpredictable. He also has the most distinguishable accent.
The actor is known for his roles in movies such as Venom, Mad Max: Fury Road, The Dark Knight Rises, Black Hawk Down, and Inception.
Aidan Gillen
The first time the audience saw Aidan Gillen on their small screens, they probably thought of Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish from the hit HBO show, Game of Thrones. He has the same kind of character in the show: shady and mysterious. No one would ever trust his character but he stayed loyal to the Shelby family. He even went ahead and proposed marriage to Polly Gray. His character would not come back though after he was killed off in the last season.
Sam Claflin
Fans might recognize him in a lot of movies from the past, including the dystopian series The Hunger Games, Me Before You, and Enola Holmes. He portrays Oswald Mosley, a fascist politician and main antagonist in the fifth season.
Of all the villains in the show, Mosley is, so far, the one that gets to Thomas Shelby. He seemed like the unbeatable antagonist. By the end of the fifth season, he survived the chaos and is expected to return on the upcoming season.
Adrien Brody
A Best Actor awardee on a television show is definitely something to look forward to. Adrien Brody played Luca Changretta, an Italian Mafioso set to take revenge for the death of his family. He is known as one of the toughest villains that the Shelbys have encountered. He was responsible for the death of John Shelby and the injury of Arthur Shelby and Michael Gray.
His notable movies include King Kong, Midnight in Paris, and The Pianist, where he won an Academy Award.
