The life of a professional actor may seem easy from the outside but acting doesn’t come without its drawbacks. Sometimes the process of filmmaking could be either an easy task or an extremely difficult one, and over the years many actors have revealed some sort of unusual or compelling tale describing their on-set experiences. Here we have compiled 5 actors who experienced embarrassing things during the filming.
1) Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad)
Christopher Mintz-Plasse required parental supervision during the shooting of Superbad. He got his first major acting role at 17 in this movie and due to legal reasons regarding his age, at the time of filming, Mintz-Plasse revealed that his mom had to be present on the set while he filmed explicit scenes for the movie. Obviously, it was an awkward experience for the actor.
2) Renée Zellweger (Judy)
Renée Zellweger had a prosthetic mishap during the filming of Judy. In a biopic, it is very important for the actor to look just like the actual person and makeup can help in making that task easier. While filming Judy, the 2019 biographical drama about the final year of Judy Garland’s life, Zellweger was required to wear a prosthetic nose tip along with false teeth and during one particular intimate kissing scene with her co-star Finn Wittrock she saw that the tip of her nose had fallen off, and as a result, Wittrock’s face was covered in a “milk-like substance,” which had come from the prosthetic itself.
3) Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones)
Actress Emilia Clarke played Daenerys Targaryen on Game of Thrones, and she appeared in her fair share of shocking scenes. During the filming of one of her iconic scenes where Clarke’s character ate a stallion’s heart, thus covering Daenerys in blood. Clarke ate approximately 28 “hearts” that were made from jam. She was told they would taste like gummy bears but they tasted like bleach.
It doesn’t end here, these prop hearts spewed sticky fake blood (which was like fast-acting glue) which, after dozens of takes, had made its way to various areas of Clarke’s body and she recalled the moment where she disappeared from the set because she had accidentally gotten herself stuck to a toilet.
4) Matt Leblanc (F.R.I.E.N.D.S)
Many fans of F.R.I.E.N.D.S may recall the scene when Joey suddenly shows up at Monica’s apartment wearing a sling. Well, the reason behind it was that Matt Leblanc actually dislocated his arm filming the second episode of the third season.
In this episode, Chandler and Joey become locked in a childish competition for an armchair. The actor described the incident as “We both race to the chair. … And somehow, I ended up completely upside down, and I was going to land on my head between the table and the chair, so I put my arm up to break my fall and just exploded my shoulder.”
5) Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street)
During the filming of an explicit scene, Margot Robbie was required to lay on the bed covered in money. It was actually painful for Robbie, who got paper cuts from the sharp edges on all those bills.
