Two years ago, a surprising report was published on MovieWeb that spilled the beans about what exactly goes on behind the franchise clash among fans.
While enthusiasts tend to be at each others’ throats on social media and otherwise concerning which Marvel Studios or DC film does it better, the film that actually came out on top shook everyone.
Marvel has indeed become the most profitable franchise in the past decade, but the report suggested another Disney film that beat every major entry in the big-budget arena to secure the #1 place.

DC Entries That Collected Big, But Weren’t Well Received
The study was based on the Rotten Tomatoes scores, and the representatives thoroughly checked and compared the films to prepare the list that showed the rankings.
According to their research, the hero from Kansas stood out to be the most disliked. The late Christopher Reeves and Brandon Routh have played the iconic character with Henry Cavill being the most loved version. The Superman franchise is worth $2.5 billion but scored 48% on the list.
“For movies, we looked at all films which fall under each franchise, including subseries within a larger franchise (for example the likes of The Avengers, Iron Man and Captain America within the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and reboots of series (for example we took all the Spider-Man movies as one franchise,” said the researchers.
While Christopher Nolan did wonders with his take, the collective Batman franchise ($6.8 billion) scored 59% to secure the second most disliked spot. The DC extended universe ($6.6 billion) followed with the same 59%.

If Not Marvel, Then Which Franchise Won Over Cinephiles?
Time and again, critics have rewarded films that can make the audience laugh and connect with the premise in different ways. Marvel has, so far, made films that resonate with all age groups of people.
But, the Disney animated film – The Incredibles scored 96%. The second installment of the film came out in 2018 and with double the budget, collected double than the first. Rising up to $1.2 billion from $631 million explained that fans were eager for it.
MovieWeb mentioned that the report was collected from Money.co.UK. It is a ‘free for all’ website that people can use to compare products based on financial grounds.
The report said that Marvel managed to secure the following ranks with Guardians of the Galaxy standing at 89%, Captain America at 87%, The Avengers films at 86%, and Deadpool at 85%.
