Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is a game that came out as a PlayStation portable exclusive in 2006, followed by a launch for PlayStation 2 in 2007. The game follows the story of a character named Vic Vance, as he tries to make a name for himself in Vice City after being discharged from the army.

2. Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Copies Sold – 11 Million

GTA: Liberty City Stories is set in the same city as GTA III, which is Liberty City. It was released for PlayStation Portable back in 2005 and received a port to PlayStation 2 a year later in 2006.

The game was a fine addition to the already existing titles like GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas, however, it was majorly limited by the capabilities of the PlayStation Portable at the time, causing it to have comparatively fewer sales than other known titles in the franchise.

1. Grand Theft Auto Advance

Copies Sold – 0.24 Million

Grand Theft Auto Advance is one of the less recognized titles made by Rockstar Games, with many having no idea that it even exists.

The game was released back in 2004 but was only released for the Game Boy Advance, making it the GTA with the least amount of platforms launched. There is not much to talk about this game except the fact that it was based on the same principles as the original Grand Theft Auto game rather than being a 3D title, which was one of the main selling points at the time.

3. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

Released all the way back in 2002, it was one of the first 3D graphic title games that the GTA series received, and it managed to be a huge success. It was originally released for PlayStation 2 but was later ported to other platforms such as Windows and others.

The game focuses on Tommy Vercetti, who after being released from jail comes to Vice City, where he then manages to take over the town overrun by mobs at the time and goes after the money that was rightfully his to begin with.

2. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Released back in 2004, San Andreas was the most commercially successful 3D graphic title game out of the 3D trio released, and it managed to be a huge success. It was also released for PlayStation 2 but later received a port to Microsoft Xbox and Windows in 2005, and a port to MacOS in 2010.

The game focuses on Carl Johnson, also known as CJ, who returns to the city of San Andreas, a place overrun by gangs, violence, and corruption, after the murder of his mother. Upon his return, he is framed by the police for homicide, and the game follows his journey as things fold out.

The challenges to the development of this particular game were also covered in a BBC documentary released in 2015, called “The Gamechangers“, which starred Danielle Radcliffe in the lead role.

GTA V is one of the most successful video games ever in history, being one of the three games known to have sold over 100 million copies.

Released in 2013, the game manages to still be relevant today as the series awaits a new installment. Grand Theft Auto was originally released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 but later released on PlayStation 4 as well as PC, with the most recent release being for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X.

The game allowed players to switch from three characters, named Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, at any given point, with each of them having their own storyline and missions to play and complete.
