The veteran was discovered by comedian Brian Monarch to have been a part of the 1977 George Lucas cult classic Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope in which he was seen to have played a fleeting cameo of a Death Star Guard. Following Monarch corroborating this viral information with a picture, many fans took to social media to express their surprise and excitement on Hoffman’s involvement in the franchise. But was this in fact, true?

Dustin Hoffman’s Connection With Star Wars
Hollywood star Dustin Hoffman has been part of many unforgettable and memorable films throughout his glittering career. The octagenarian was trending recently after news that he was part of one of the biggest cult franchises, Star Wars. Comedian Brian Monarch took to social media to post a picture of the Oscar winner in which he looked to be in the character of a Death Star Guard from the 1977 Star Wars film. Monarch captioned the picture,
“I had no idea. This blew my mind”
The video that Monarch posted, showed Hoffman in a scene involving Princess Leia played by the late Carrie Fisher. Following the post, netizens who could not contain their excitement, indulged in a barrage of comments and exchanges online that created quite a stir.
Was Dustin Hoffman Really A Death Star Guard?
George Lucas’s cult epic Star Wars created many superstars including Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Samuel L. Jackson, and Carrie Fisher. But it was revealed that the blockbuster films may also have had another huge icon, Dustin Hoffman, in the role of a Death Star Guard. Comedian Brian Monarch uploaded a viral video which showed The Graduate star in a scene with Carrie Fisher, sending fans into a tizzy.
But, this piece of information is now proven to be false. It was revealed that Monarch, who is a proven expert at doctoring videos using film scenes and actors in an amusing way, had actually made a fun edit by juxtaposing the original actor Ron Conrad’s face to resemble that of Dustin Hoffman. While many viewers found his expertise at editing videos an interesting way to engage people in social media, a few others felt that he was courting danger and violating copyrights by spreading false information.
