Pixar’s Ratatouille introduces us to Remy who wants to become a chef, but the only problem is that he is a rat! The story tells us about how he becomes a great chef with Alfredo Linguini’s help. Here we have listed subtle details that even the biggest Pixar fans probably missed in Ratatouille.

1) A member of the crew (Kesten Migdal) was asked to jump in a swimming pool in a chef’s uniform so that the creators could see where the uniform would normally stick to on the body when wet and then used that information to make the scene where Linguini is wet from jumping in the river more realistic.
2) A very common injury among professional chefs is the oven rack burn on the forearm. This injury could be seen on Colette’s forearm as well.

3) The Ratatouille is a real recipe and was designed by chef Thomas Keller. It takes at least four hours to make.
4) In 2006, Cars lost out on the Oscar for Best Animated Movie to Happy Feet, which used the concept of Motion Capture. Later in 2007, Pixar placed a “Quality Assurance Guarantee” at the end of Ratatouille to remind the Academy that they animate every single frame of their movies manually.
5) The very first thing Remy did when he entered the kitchen was cleaning himself by falling into a sink full of soap and water so that he prevents contamination of any food item he later touches in the scene.
6) The dog barking at Remy is Dug from Up (2009).
7) Anton Ego’s typewriter looks like a Skull and his office looks like a coffin.
8) The paleness of Anton Ego’s face slowly disappears when he eats the Ratatouille, this shows that his emotions and feelings about food have changed.
9) Remy doesn’t walk on all four of his paws but walks on two instead to keep his two front paws clean.
10) Patton Oswalt (voice actor of Remy) actually hugged director Brad Bird to achieve a realistic sound while recording lines for a scene in which Remy hugs his father Django.
11) In Anton’s flashback, there’s a few hidden details that indicate that Remy grew up in Anton’s mother’s house, learning to cook by watching Anton’s mother.
12) We get to see Bomb Voyage from The Incredibles in a scene as a mime artist.
13) Remy exactly knew everyone in the kitchen and their jobs because earlier in the film, in the sewer, one of the pages Remy flips through shows the jobs of each person in Gusteau’s Kitchen.
14) When Linguini is preparing the soup, a green smear can be seen on the cutting board that actually happens when cutting green vegetables. Also, bite marks on his hands are still there from when Remy bit him a couple of days before.
15) Remy uses a toothpaste cap as a cup.
16) In Cars 2 (2011), in a scene, a restaurant called “Gastow’s” can be seen. This was a direct reference to “Gusteau’s” restaurant in Ratatouille (2007).
17) At the end of Ratatouille, thimbles are used as cups, buttons are used as plates, pins are utensils.
18) In the scene where Linguine gives the staff an “Inspirational Speech”, the staff is visibly exhausted by the end of the speech because the clock in the background shows that it lasts almost 20 minutes.
19) The shop with dead rats shown in Ratatouille is based on a real shop in Paris, France, called Aurouze.
20) In Ratatouille (2007), we can see a Lasseter wine bottle with the “Lasseter family winery” logo in a scene. John Lasseter owns a winery in real life.
