Tom Hanks is one of the most respected actors who has been in some of the greatest movies of all time. His range in acting is extraordinary and barely anyone can match his level of talent. His uniqueness makes him stand out as an actor and everyone can find themself in a state of awe. It is not uncommon for actors to be excited to get movies with their favorite celebrities or even find a chance to meet someone they had always been dreaming of.
From actors meeting bigger actors to many of them jamming in their favorite musicians’ concerts; there is always a way to get mesmerized by talent in such a vast industry. One such moment even happened with Hanks, someone who is already regarded as a legendary actor.
Tom Hanks Was Out Of Words When He Met A Legendary Actor
Tom Hanks got the rare opportunity to work alongside Paul Newman in Road to Perdition. The movie was also an instance barely anyone saw again. Hanks is a villain. Although the actor avoids being seen as a villain, this movie proved to be an exception. The actor was absolutely in awe when he was working with Newman and was more than eager to play the villain if that’s what it meant.
“Intimidating.”
When asked about how his experience had been and what he felt while working with Newman, Hanks only had one word and that was more than enough. He was heavily intimidated by the actor and the legendary aura that he exerts. Tom Hanks played a mob enforcer who was raised under the guidance of John Rooney as played by Paul Newman. He also added that watching him work is a blessing on its own and something he would forever cherish throughout his life.
Tom Hanks Was Full Of Praises For Paul Newman
Tom Hanks could not stop complimenting Paul Newman. The way he works, the way he acts, and the way he talks, walks, or sleeps; everything was a moment of inspiration for the actor. The way he was inspired by the actor is quite remarkable because of his already established stance as a legend. Unfortunately, however, Road to Perdition happened to be Newman’s last live-action film.
“His artistry, his charity — he’s the blueprint, really.”
The actor appeared in voice acting roles as well as some television roles here and there. This routine continued on for six more years until his passing in 2008. So not only did Tom Hanks get an opportunity of a lifetime by working with Newman, but it was also the last movie he ever made in his entire career.
Road to Perdition is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
