While many movies suffered at the box office in 2022, 2023 is the year when every studio has brought their A-game. So far, only the superhero genre has delivered mediocre films, but there have been some exciting gems from other genres throughout the Spring season.
But now as we approach the season of Summer movies, there are projects that could light the box office on fire. Following is the list of all Summer movies that could save Hollywood by becoming potential blockbusters at the theaters.
All Exciting Movies Coming in Summer 2023
1. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The Holiday Special acted as a happy-going refresher before James Gunn takes the fans through a very emotional final volume of his Guardians franchise. While Peter Quill and Nebula still seek to reunite with Gamora, who stands with the ravagers now, this chapter will mostly be about Rocket Raccoon’s origin story.
Joined by Adam Warlock, the Guardians will take on Rocket’s creator, the High Evolutionary. The fans need to get their tissues ready because this film will be the most tear-jerking entry of the MCU. And James Gunn has already confirmed one or more deaths.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 arrives on May 5.
2. Knights of the Zodiac
With this outing from Sony, viewers would get to enter a fantasy world where the Goddess of War reincarnates in the body of a young girl. She was sent to Earth to watch over humanity. And it becomes the destiny of a street orphan named Seiya to protect her and save the world.

The 10th installment of the long-running Fast Saga has been divided into 2 parts. As always, Dom and his family will go on some more globe-trotting adventures in Fast X. The likes of Charlize Theron, Jason Statham, and John Cena are set to return. But the exciting crowd pullers here are Brie Larson and Jason Momoa, who have joined in as well.
Larson is playing the daughter of Mr. Nobody and Momoa comes in as the big bad villain. He is the son of Hernen Reyes from Fast Five, who seeks revenge from Dom and his family for what they did to his father. He could prove to be the most dangerous villain because he isn’t afraid to go after Dom’s son.
Fast X is set to release on May 19, and then the finale should follow in 2024 or 2025.
4. The Little Mermaid
Disney is returning with yet another live-action remake as they take on The Little Mermaid this time. As far as the narrative is concerned, we’d see Halle Bailey play Ariel, the youngest mermaid daughter of King Triton.

The Flash releases on June 16.
8. Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
With James Mangold helming the project, Harrison Ford is set to return one last time as the Famed archaeologist and explorer Indiana Jones. It brings back Patrick Wilson’s Josh Lambert alongside Rose Byrne’s Renai Lambert from Insidious Chapter 2. The story is set 10 years after Chapter 2 and it will also feature Hollywood’s current love, Jenna Ortega. But the big change is that Patrick Wilson is also directing this one.
10. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1
Tom Cruise impressed the world with Top Gun: Maverick in 2022. Now, he is looking to do the same with Mission: Impossible 7. Fallout became his biggest movie before Maverick. But with his newfound relevance in pop culture, everyone is excited to see his high-stakes stunts and fight sequences in the two-part finale of the Mission Impossible franchise.
Along with the regular cast members, Dead Reckoning Part 1 has added two new MCU ladies, Hayley Atwell, and Pom Klementieff into the mix. The villain this time is going to be former Deathstroke actor, Esai Morales. And Dead Reckoning Part 1 will arrive on July 14.
11. Barbie
Margot Robbie stars as Barbie from Barbie Land, who will set off for the human world to find true happiness. Joining her on her journey would be one of the Kens, played by Ryan Gosling. The film also stars Simu Liu as another Ken variant, while many other familiar names play other variants of Barbie.
It’ll be interesting to see if Barbie would be able to make it in the real world, which is not as “perfect” as her Barbie Land. Barbie hits theaters on July 21.
12. Oppenheimer
Taking on WB’s Barbie would be Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which also arrives on July 21. Along with Murphy, the all-star cast of Oppenheimer involves Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Rami Malek, and Jack Quaid.
13. Meg 2: The Trench
Jason Statham gave us an impressive Giant Shark movie back in 2018, which surprisingly made 530 million dollars at the box office. So now, Statham is coming back to tackle the Megalodons once again and Li Bingbing will be back to support him as well. Not much is known about this much-anticipated sequel yet. But we know that it will arrive on August 4.
14. Blue Beetle
Those who love Miguel on Cobra Kai will be excited for Blue Beetle because Xolo Maridueña is also playing Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle. The first trailer excited many fans as it is yet another family outing that is jam-packed with action, heart, and humor.
The basic premise is that Jaime Reyes comes across an alien Scarab that attaches itself to the young teenager and gives him the ability to create any weapon that he could think of. With these newfound powers, Jaime goes up against the villainous Victoria Kord, played by Susan Sarandon.
