Had Disney movies been scientifically accurate, they would’ve lost most of their charm. We’ve dived deep into how Disney has overlooked science and logic over the past years. Here are 13 animal facts:
1. FINDING NEMO
Biologically, Nemo’s father would have become his mother. All clownfishes are born male. When the dominant female dies, the dominant male becomes female.
2. ALADDIN
Capuchin monkeys wash their feet with their pee. Abu, who is Aladdin’s adorable comrade mostly sits on his shoulder. Abu might lose his charm in your eyes when you realize his breed of monkey pees on their hands to clean their feet.
3. FINDING NEMO
If we were to go by science, Marlin should have eaten Nemo as an egg. Male clownfish carefully tend to the eggs. If any eggs look damaged or weak to them, they will eat them.
4. DONALD DUCK
Out of our many animal facts, ducks often become cannibals simply out of boredom. In commercial farming, usually, beaks are trimmed to prevent poultry from eating each other.
5. THE LION KING
In jungles, the lionesses abandon their litter if only one cub survives. Sarabi would’ve anyway abandoned Simba for dead long before Scar. Scientifically, female lions have more reproductive success if they abandon single cubs. They tend to invest only in larger litters.
6. THE LITTLE MERMAID
Crabs eat just about anything they can catch and crack open with their pincers. Flounder really shouldn’t be that friendly around Sebastian. They eat fish, worms, and even other crabs.

Ariel’s sidekick, Flounder isn’t really a flounder. He’s a yellow and blue tropical fish, which is nothing like a flounder. Flounders are flatfish which are much less cute.
8. DUMBO
Elephants can defecate up to 300 pounds in a day. Well, it’s a good thing they can’t fly else we would’ve been wiping falling feces off our car windshields. Elephants can eat up to 125 pounds but defecate more due to all the water they drink.
9. THE LION KING
When a new male lion takes control over a pride, he tends to kill all the cubs. Scar wouldn’t have been the only murderer. If accurate, both Simba and his dad would have committed infanticide. This helps to ensure only his genes get passed on.
10. TARZAN
The alpha male gorilla will mate with all the female gorillas. Given how large the crowd was, Kerchak must have been quite busy. A group of gorillas will only have one silverback male that mates with all the females.
11. RATATOUILLE
To know what’s right for them to eat, Rats sniff each others’ breath. If Remy eats what he cooks, and the other rats sniff his breath, they ought to know what is edible for them and what is poisonous.
12. CINDERELLA
Wild mice are great carriers of lethal diseases. The mice shown in Cinderella could possibly be carrying hantavirus, leptospirosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis, Tularemia, Salmonella, or some kind of plague.
13. THE LION KING
Meerkats are one of the most murderous mammals. They kill their own species in order to maintain dominance. The sole reason why Timon had to befriend a warthog was probably that he killed all the friends of his own species.
