One of the most commercially successful filmmakers in the history of movie-making, Steven Spielberg has created and directed several blockbuster movies. Renowned for his directed Jurassic Park film series, the 76-year-old filmmaker has been in the industry for nearly 54 years and has made movies ranging from children’s much-loved animated fantasies to historical and science fiction movies.
In a hilarious turn of events, the director of the $2B Indiana Jones franchise, Steven Spielberg can be seen talking to snakes while shooting Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark in viral on-stage footage.
Steven Spielberg Got Mad at Snakes for Ruining Movie Shoot
Being the brilliant and hard-working director that he is, Steven Spielberg is famous for his full focus and concentration on enhancing the shooting of movie scenes during filming. And it was all thanks to his diligent personality that a video clip of him getting mad at snakes during his movie shoot went viral online.
In video footage from the on-set shooting of Harrison Ford starrer $389M Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, the multiple times Oscar-winning director can be seen holding a snake and yelling at it for liking fire, saying,
“You don’t like fire, or you do like fire? … You love fire? In the script, you’re supposed to hate fire! Why do you like fire?! You’re ruining my movie!”
Apparently, it was mentioned in the movie script that the snakes are scared of fire, however, the snakes on set were rather warming up to the on-set torches, leading Steven Spielberg to get frustrated at them for ruining the movie shoot. But thanks to the snakes being on their best behavior, the cast was able to shoot the movie without too much trouble.
Steven Spielberg Called for Real Life Cobras for Shoot
During the shoot of Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, there was a particular scene that required a ‘snake-infested chamber’. For this, Steven Spielberg called for over 9,000 snakes which were a combination of both rubber snakes as well as real snakes, so basically the ground would be covered completely in snakes.
However, most of the snakes that were called were not poisonous, except the cobras, which posed to be a real threat. With the cobras’ arrival, everyone on the set of the movie got very alert about the situation, even when they had more than a few reptile experts on sets along with antivenom serum.
While none of the crew got severely injured on the sets, thanks to the proper protection arranged, the Indiana Jones franchise’s cast’s hard work certainly paid off with the snake-infested chamber scene being one of the most loved scenes throughout the movie.
