Having several Oscar nominations under his name, Bradley Cooper has become one of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood. The actor made his way to the silver screen with the 2001 film Wet Hot American Summer. As he continued working in the industry, he starred alongside some of the most prominent names, including the Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey in the 2006 romantic comedy Failure to Launch.
The collaboration with the Interstellar star would later result in a rather hilarious encounter with his co-star’s fan, who asked him to sing McConaughey’s name only because he had worked with him.
Bradley Cooper’s Hilarious Encounter With a Matthew McConaughey Fan
Bradley Cooper starred alongside Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker in the 2006 romantic comedy Failure to Launch. The movie follows a middle-aged man, Tripp, who refuses to leave the comfortable life his parents have built for him. Cooper portrayed the character of Demo, one of Tripp’s best friends.
While over the years, he has gotten quite the recognition all around the world, an interaction with his Failure to Launch co-star’s fan had it all crashing down for the Hollywood star. During an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, he shared the incident that he refers to as “the worst way to get recognized.”
“I did this independent film in Minnesota, and I was at an Applebee’s,” he shared. The Hangover star further recalled that he was very excited when a woman came to him and asked him for an autograph. As he went on to do the same, the woman said, “Oh no, no, just put Matthew McConaughey.”
Believing that the woman might have confused him with his co-star, Cooper told her that he was not McConaughey. However, the superfan was well aware of who he was and told him, “Oh, I know you are not Matthew McConaughey, but you work with him. That’s enough.” The Burnt actor gladly shared that he did sign his co-star’s name for his fan.
Bradley Cooper Recalls Nightmare Kiss with Failure to Launch Co-Star
Before he shared the screen with Sarah Jessica Parker alongside McConaughey in the 2006 film, Bradley Cooper worked with Parker in the romantic comedy TV series Sex and the City. He was able to land the role of her character Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest, Jake, which also marked his first on-screen appearance.
However, there was one thing that he described as a nightmare. Cooper was reportedly given certain instructions for his kissing scene with his co-star, but that did not turn out so well for the actor. He shared that right before they shot the scene, he was told that the Hocus Pocus actress “does no tongue.”
And while filming the scene, it made things more complicated for the actor as he shared, “I kept thinking about was keeping my tongue as far back in my mouth as possible,” before adding, “It was a nightmare.” However, Cooper shared that his co-star was great, and he had fun working on the show.
