Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone handle their rivalry and friendship in a classy way. Are they seriously aiming for a bromance? Naturally, yes! But, one cannot forget the rivalry they shared when they were in their prime.
Well, with the success of their blockbuster films from the Rocky and Terminator franchises, Stallone and Schwarzenegger became recognizable as action heroes. They have maintained their rivalry-turned-friendship even into their 70s, and it has been trending online.
A year ago, the antics of these two action legends of Hollywood swept the internet. The stars were seen hanging out together and engaging in an unexpected activity (during Halloween) —carving pumpkins!
Yes, you heard it right.
Social media was typically awash with the image of the two legends, and it was abundantly clear that these men shared a positive bond, (and still do).
They are capable of having fun and being carefree. And let us face it, you won’t see stars like them using knives and a pumpkin very often.
Sylvester Stallone Revealed The Back story Of The Viral Pumpkin Post
Last year’s Halloween was made even more memorable by Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger, whose friendship could be seen as they carved pumpkins like kids.
The Terminator star mentioned in the newsletter that Stallone asked him to film a scene with him for his show. Additionally, he invited the Rocky star to his office because he had never been there.
There, with Whiskey, Lulu, and pumpkin carving, they made some truly special memories, (which can be evidently seen on the viral Instagram post). Thus, this wildly popular Halloween photo has a backstory, which Stallone revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Formerly fierce rivals, the two action heroes from the 1980s shared a touching Instagram photo of themselves holding freshly carved pumpkins. The 76-year-old actor revealed last year on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the photograph was actually the result of a “pumpkin carving contest,” which he naturally won.
The Creed actor dished:
“After we do our little tete-a-tete, talking, he goes: ‘You want to carve a pumpkin?’ And he goes like: ‘Pumpkin!’ And then pumpkins appear. And then he’s like: ‘Knives!’ And some guy bringing knives. I mean, it’s unbelievably choreographed. This guy’s the real deal.”
He expressed his heartfelt thoughts on the competition while thinking back on their past rivalry. He claimed it was advantageous because it produced better performances.
“But unless you are competing in a sport where you either win or lose, nothing is zero sum.”
“There is plenty of pie to go around,” Stallone added in reference to having a wider perspective.
Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone’s Friendship
It is encouraging to see these two cultural icons getting along over such a banal topic. No matter how well-known or successful they are, they showed that sometimes the most enjoyable things in life are the most basic. And in this instance, it is a traditional pumpkin-carving session.
There are many similarities between Sylvester Stallone and the Commando star. Stallone talked about his friendship with fellow action star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“Arnold’s very wise and he loves to talk about philosophies which have got him to where he is. It’s good to talk to a man who actually has put his money where his mouth is and he’s achieved that. Then we start goofing around and being crazy — just laughing at the old times.”
For the unversed, Stallone and Schwarzenegger collaborated on the 2013 films The Expendables and Escape Plan.
So the next time you are feeling stressed or overburdened, follow their lead and grab a pumpkin (or any other crafty item) and just let your creativity flow. Who knows, maybe your inner carving abilities will surprise you as these two action stars did.
