Salma Hayek is one of the most iconic and talented actresses of current times. Being an actress and film producer, the Mexican-American actress has made a name for herself by starring in massive films like From Dusk Till Dawn, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Desperado, and Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard.
Outside of her professional achievements, the actress has also made a name for herself through her activism, using her platform to do as much good as she can. It would seem, however, that Hayek was not as saintly. When she was younger, the actress almost got kicked out of Catholic school.
Salma Hayek Talks About Being In Catholic School
During an interview, Salma Hayek talked about her childhood, more specifically, her experience growing up in this Catholic school, and basically getting kicked out. The actress explained that when she was attending this establishment, a nun asked her to leave on her own or she would get kicked out. The reason for this was a number of pranks that young Hayek would pull which would lead to her getting in trouble. She then went on to talk about one such prank that got her into quite some trouble.
“They changed the nun that was the head of the nuns and she said, ‘You should go now before we kick you. you bring too many trouble.’ But they were not bad, they were funny little things.” She stated, “All the American girls would wake up so early to start putting makeup on, curl their hair, and I wanted to sleep until the last possible second. So I would change all their alarm clocks to an hour earlier and they were up at four or five a.m. doing their makeup and hair. I laughed for about two hours.”
When Hayek attended this school, she liked to sleep as long as she could, so much so that she would sleeping her school uniform to save time in the morning and be able to sleep in more. This proved to be a little difficult for her as her peers at the all-girls school had the tendency of waking up way earlier and making a lot of noise getting ready. They would put their hair up in rollers and put on make-up, all the while making too much noise. This annoyed the future actress to such a degree that she decided to pull a harmless prank on them.
Salma Hayek Pulled A Prank That Got Her Into Trouble
Fed up by their daily routine, Salma Hayek decided to set all of her classmates’ alarm clocks back an hour so that she could watch them doing their makeup and their hair at four or five in the morning, only to realize that they have woken up too early. While Hayek found this prank extremely funny, her classmates and the nuns at her school did not feel the same way.
“I would get detention and then I would have fun in detention too,” she said. “If you’re creative, you’re creative in whatever you do, otherwise life is unbearable.”
Hayek got into some serious trouble due to this prank, getting put in detention. The actress, however, did not seem phased by this as she thought that the entire experience was quite funny. She also added that she would end up having fun in detention too, stating that one should be creative when given a bad situation, otherwise, life will be miserable for them.
