George Lucas Asked Carrie Fisher Not To Wear Undergarments
Although Carrie Fisher famously donned the iconic gold bikini in Star Wars, it turns out that was as close as she got to sporting any undergarment on set. In an interview with Blastr in 2010, Fisher disclosed the state of her underwear during the filming of Star Wars.
According to Carrie Fisher, George Lucas prohibited her from wearing a bra during filming, and surprisingly, he had a scientific reason behind this decision. Fisher shared Lucas’ explanation saying,
“He explained that in space you get weightless, and so your flesh expands. What? But your bra doesn’t, so you get strangled by your bra. That’s why I couldn’t wear a bra in the first Star Wars. George actually came backstage when I did the show in San Francisco and told me that.”
While it’s difficult to say whether this account is accurate, it has become part of Star Wars lore and has been widely discussed among fans.
George Lucas’ Vision Propelled Star Wars To Unprecedented Heights
George Lucas was known for his unique and sometimes eccentric approach to filmmaking. Lucas often employed unconventional methods to achieve authentic sounds for the alien languages in the film. He would mix recordings of different languages played in reverse.

Hamill shared details about his rigorous training for a fight sequence, working closely with renowned stunt coordinator Peter Diamond and Bob Anderson, who doubled as Darth Vader. However, their approach to the fights was altered by a rule enforced by George Lucas himself.
