Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie are on top of the world right now, as their movie, Barbie has collected $356.2 million worldwide at the theatres in its first few days in the theatres. And it is not going to stop there, as fans are going nuts to watch the movie, by paying extra for the tickets. It is a no-fuss decision as Greta Gerwig’s project brings out the fantasy world of Barbie, where the stars are having a great time on the set of the film.
However, Margot Robbie faced some backlash from her friends, as the actress has always been a few feet away from kissing her co-star, Ryan Gosling. The co-stars have not locked lips, not even once in the movie. This was talked about so much that the actress brought it up during an exclusive interview.
Margot Robbie’s Friends Were Furious With Her For Not Kissing Ryan Gosling
During an exclusive interview with People’s Magazine, Margot Robbie stated how her girlfriends were in disbelief that she has not kissed Ryan Gosling’s Ken once in the entire film. Her friends were astounded and asked Robbie, “What’s wrong with you?”
As the interview progressed, the actress shared her friends could not believe at all, that they never shared a kiss despite being involved as a producer in the project.
“All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well, you did a whole movie with him, and you don’t kiss?’ What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’ I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off [my list].'”
Even though it sounds surprising the characters of the co-stars in the film have a much more dynamic relationship, than just being boyfriend-girlfriends. Fans would realize that Ken and Barbie never had a romantic relationship, and Ken just accompanies Barbie to the real world to solve her problem.
SPOILER ALERT!
Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie’s Characters’ Dynamic Relationship in Barbie
Ken and Barbie’s relationship in the movie is vastly different as compared to a typical romantic relationship, Barbie has no interest in Ken, while he struggles to get her affection. Hence, he accompanied her to the real world, to help Barbie in her quest. While Barbie was finding answers to her problem, Ken got influenced by the real world and returned to his world, where he initiated a male-dominated power structure, similar to a patriarchal society.
But even after that, Ken is not satisfied. However, after having a heart-to-heart conversation with Barbie, he realized that he does not need to be toxic, but just needs to be himself. Hence, it is wrong of the actress’ friends to think that her and Gosling’s relationship in the film was romantic. As the story by Greta Gerwig showcases the individual struggles of both characters embarking on a journey to find what they want in life.
