The host reminded Hamill of the big secret in the second film of the original trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back. The Hamilton actor recalled that there were no major secrets or spoilers in the first film, but the scrutiny intensified with the second film.

Hamill revealed how Irwin Kershner, the director of The Empire Strikes Back, met him personally in his dressing room to reveal the big secret. Kershner handed him the script containing the big reveal about Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Kershner told him that only three people knew of this secret – Hamill, Kershner, and the producer George Lucas.

The Airborne actor had to keep this secret for almost a year and a half. When the scene was shot, Harrison Ford felt betrayed that Hamill had known the secret and hadn’t told him.
