Gary Oldman is one of the many veteran actors in the Hollywood industry widely known for his starring in a variety of movies. Oldman has been in this industry for a very long time since when he debuted in the industry with his starring in the movie, Remembrance back in 1982. Since then he has been actively participating in every chance he gets for appearing in a movie, and has also made multiple blockbuster movies throughout his career. Though he has many top-class movies out there, his most recognizable was for portraying Commissioner Jim Gordon in the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan.

Gary Oldman Broke His Character While Playing Jim Gordon

Gary Oldman aka Commissioner Gordon was one of the prominent actors in the whole trilogy, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises – in all of these movies Oldman plays one of the most important roles and brings out quality content from his acting. But according to many reports, there were many instances in the last installment, The Dark Knight Rises, Gary Oldman was not able to hold his character Jim Gordon and was frequently breaking out of it. It was later revealed that Garry Oldman was facing issues maintaining character while acting beside co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

“Someone that talented, I do these scenes with him and you can’t put a pin through an insincere movement, it’s wonderful. You come out of character sometimes because you’re in a scene and you find your head going, ‘Wow, he’s pretty good!”

In an interview with MTV News, Garry Oldman shared that the main reason for him frequently breaking out of his character was because of Levitt’s exceptional acting. He further revealed that as Levitt was a newcomer to the franchise, it was quite interesting for him to star against Levitt in many scenarios and Oldman found it amusing that Levitt was so good playing his role as the young and honest cop in the final movie that he broke character multiple times.

The Dark Knight trilogy is one of the most famous trilogies out there directed by Christopher Nolan which includes Batman Begins in 2005, The Dark Knight in 2008, and The Dark Knight Rises in 2012. The trilogy was led by star actors like Christian Bale taking the lead role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Cillian Murphy portraying Scarecrow, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox, Anne Hathway portraying Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, the most infamous Joker played by the late Heath Ledger, and many other star actors.

The movies also received multiple accolades such as the Academy Awards twice, the Critics Choice Awards twice, the Golden Globe awards 3 times, and with many countless other awards and nominations.
