Dwayne Johnson is one of the fan-favorites celebrities in the Hollywood industry who switched his career to acting after successfully dominating the wrestling world with his stage name, The Rock. While he has established himself as a leading brand in both fields, he is not safe from controversies.
Back in 2011, the actor tweeted an insensitive remark towards a nursing student which resurfaced last year when Donald Trump Jr. addressed the situation.
Donald Trump Jr. Called Out Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for His Offensive Tweet
The 45-year-old business personality, Donald Trump Jr. hit out at Dwayne Johnson as he highlighted the latter’s 2011 tweet which included transphobic remarks.
In the since-deleted tweet, The Rock seemed to have replied to a Twitter user by writing,
“It’s not our fault you’re turning tranny tricks to put yourself thru nursing school.”
This tweet was brought to light by the former, who shared a screenshot of Johnson’s deleted tweet, and addressed the issue by writing,
“Wow, @TheRock, you can’t just try to quietly delete transphobic attacks without giving a groveling apology and expect to ever work in Hollywood again.”
Check out the tweet here.
He also called his business sponsors to let them know about the double standards of the actor. Not just the political activist but another celebrity, who is a fan of the former wrestler, slammed him for his insensitive remarks.
Caitlyn Jenner Supported Donald Trump Jr. for Calling Out The Rock
Caitlyn Jenner, who herself has transitioned to a woman in 2015, addressed the issue by supporting Trump Jr. for his actions. Though she is a fan of the Jumanji actor, she wasn’t lenient to showcase that his comments were indeed wrong.
She replied to the tweet by writing,
“Hmmmm… the double standard is real. @TheRock I love you but cmon dude…let’s be real. Cancel culture has got to go. Use your platform. @DonaldJTrumpJr thanks for highlighting.”
He was in hot waters last year after he defended his old pal, Joe Rogan, who was being criticized for his own insensitive comments made on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience.
Back at the time, he defended his old pal, however, it took a complete U-turn later on to defend himself. That made the fans quite furious leading to his old remarks resurfacing on the Internet.
