“You can have Vin to thank for that”: Vin Diesel Has A Big Influence On Jason Momoa’s Aquaman 2 Without Even Starring In The DCU Movie

"You can have Vin to thank for that": Vin Diesel Has A Big Influence On Jason Momoa's Aquaman 2 Without Even Starring In The DCU Movie

In the past, the saving grace that resurrected the DCEU, although, only for a short amount of time, was none other than 2018’s Aquaman starring Jason Momoa as the titular superhero from DC Comics. And now, with the reboot of the entire franchise, the star is back again to give the DCEU a proper goodbye with his upcoming sequel Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom.

And with the sequel, comes a new perspective the fans will be able to experience as they witness the film in cinemas. Therefore, director James Wan, the man behind both the previous and the upcoming films, is giving the audience a friendly heads up on what to expect from the movie, and some of it has a very important connection to another star from the industry.

Something that was truly astonishing to hear was about the then-upcoming DCEU film Aquaman going to surpass all expectations and break past records for the franchise, and in due time, it did exactly that. The film, which starred Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry became the highest-grossing film of the cinematic universe in record time, which brought us the upcoming sequel Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom. This time, to replicate the same magic as before, director James Wan has taken the approach that Vin Diesel uses in his most successful franchise.

During a recent press event, Wan talked with Collider about what his approach to the sequel was during its development and what went on in his head. Here, he also gave credit to the Guardians of The Galaxy star for his inspiration of familial bonds from his successful Fast and Furious franchise. Since Wan was the director of Furious 7, arguably the best film in the franchise, he was sure to bring the same experience this time around as well with Arthur and his half-brother Prince Orm’s relationship at the center. He said:

“I learned about family from ‘Fast and Furious,’ you guys, so it’s coming into play in a big way. You can see a bit of that played into this in a big, big way. [Laughs] No, seriously — you know, the family aspect in this film was something that was very important for me. And you can have Vin to thank for that.”

Thus, if the filmmaker is able to make a film just as good as the one with Diesel, then we can expect some great things from the upcoming sequel.

While there may not be much that anyone knows at the moment, there are things everyone can decipher from the trailer as well as from the information that Wan has given to the public. In the upcoming film, as stated by the director, the focus will be on the relationship dynamic between Arthur and his brother Prince Orm and how it develops.

This will be initiated when the kingdom of Atlantis is plunged into chaos by a yet-unknown enemy, for which the superhero would have to team up and save his people from both the sea and the surface from a global-level threat.
