Blockbuster franchises not only present superstars with a platform to shine but also give recognition to other talented actors who work around them. Simon Pegg Battled Alcoholism On Mission Impossible 3 Set
British actor Simon Pegg who played a key role in Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible series confessed in an interview that he had suffered a mental health episode during the filming of Mission Impossible 3 back in 2006. This in turn led to him going into a very dark place and finding refuge in alcohol. The star who has been a mainstay in all of the Mission Impossible films after the 3rd installment, spoke of how he managed to cover up his illness to everyone on set.
“You become very sneaky when you have something like that in your life. You learn how to do it without anyone noticing because it takes over. It wants to sustain itself and it will do everything it can to not be stopped.”
Despite suffering through the difficult times alone, Pegg admitted that he was fortunate to have realized that he needed help and sought it at the right time before it was too late. The actor is currently in recovery and in a positive frame of mind by his own confession.
Simon Pegg and Tom Cruise Are Buddies
British actor Simon Pegg who is an integral part of Tom Cruise’s iconic action franchise Mission Impossible has spoken about the easy and warm relationship he shares with the Hollywood superstar. Talking of Cruise’s humble demeanor behind his aura, Pegg said,
“My relationship with him is just very simple and amiable. It’s always been a very easy relationship. I think you realise, when you meet the person rather than the thicket of mythology that’s built up around them, it’s a different experience”.
When asked to express his thoughts on Tom Cruise’s controversial association with Scientology, Simon Pegg was quick to reply that his relationship with the Minority Report star was based on his experience with him on the film set. Therefore anything outside of it which included Cruise’s personal life and preferences would not be of concern to him as it would amount to abusing his privilege and taking advantage of his friendship with the star.
