Jamie Foxx has continued to strive for the best possible ways to make his career more promising. From kicking off his journey at a small comedy club’s open mic night in 1989 to snagging big roles in film projects, his career has been nothing but amazing. Whether it be 2004’s Ray or the Spider-Man franchise, he has made sure to put his best into his craft.
In a 2019 new actors roundtable for The Hollywood Reporter, Jamie Foxx opened up about his experience when he auditioned for Oliver Stone’s project, Any Given Sunday. He joined the panel alongside Tom Hanks, Shia LaBeouf, Robert De Niro, Adam Driver, and Adam Sandler. They talked about times when they were hard on themselves. He recalled,
“I remember Oliver Stone, when I first auditioned [for Any Given Sunday], he was like, “You’re horrible.” And I was like, “What?” He was like, “Just get the f–k out of here.” As I’m walking out he said, “Jamie Foxx, slave to television.”
While Hanks was shocked by this story, Foxx continued, “I learned from that toughness.” However, he was able to get the role in the 1999 film which featured an ensemble cast. This year, the Oscar-winning actor has been making headlines for his health condition which was a mystery to everyone for several months.
The American comedian has been suffering from a medical emergency since April 2023 however no sufficient details have been revealed to the public which is now concerning his fans. While it was reported that he is undergoing treatment, many are still worried about what is happening to him.
Amid some disheartening reports concerning his health, his They Cloned Tyrone co-star, John Boyega has told ET Canada that the actor is “good” now. It looks like he is taking time to prepare himself before getting back on his projects.
“Yeah. He’s all good. He’s all good. So we’re just going to wait for him to reappear when he wants to. You know, privacy and all.”
The Star Wars actor further mentioned that he personally “gave him [Jamie Foxx] the well wishes”. He continued,
“I gave him all the well wishes. So I’m just gonna be waiting until he comes back out here. So take your time, Jamie. We love you, bro.”
Foxx has been getting immense love and well wishes from his fans and colleagues which includes LeBron James, Kerry Washington, and David Alan Grier who wished him a speedy recovery.
