James Gunn garnered immense praise with his latest Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Besides being a fantastic addition to the recent lackluster phase of the MCU, the themes explored in the movie were also applauded. Both the critics and the audiences were impressed by how Rocket Raccoon’s backstory was shown and how Gunn passed an important message through it. But now the director finds himself in some trouble after some fans didn’t like his way of promoting the film.
Recently as James Gunn took to his Twitter account to promote the latest MCU movie and the VFX company, he posted a video of a shivering baby Rocket Raccoon. While most fans commented on the brilliant VFX and how they loved the movie, some animal rights activists found it a cheap promotion technique.
Some fans complain about James Gunn’s promotional technique
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brought back the golden days of the MCU in some way after the flick garnered worldwide appreciation. The movie focused on Rocket Raccoon’s backstory, the Guardians teaming up to face the High Evolutionary, and primarily, one last ride for the team. Compared to the other MCU ventures, this threequel starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Chukwudi Iwuji, and others explored more mature and emotional themes. Especially, the issue of animal cruelty shown in the movie while presenting Rocket’s backstory received widespread acclaim.
But after James Gunn recently tweeted a clip of a shivering baby Rocket Raccoon created by CGI, the fans hailed him for bringing back the old Marvel. While some praised him for raising awareness of animal cruelty, some fans also spoke positively about the amazing VFX work.
But not everyone was part of the celebration as some found the tweet very disturbing. Some animal rights activists immediately started to criticize him as they found it a very cheap and disturbing promotional technique.
