Over the years, MCU was able to build one of the most successful franchises in cinema history and the Infinity Saga would witness some of the most beloved superheroes in the modern era come together. However, many of the actors who brought these characters to life are now officially done with the MCU, including Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr, who has no intentions of reprising the role of Tony Stark.
But it seems that Robert Downey Jr. isn’t the only star from the Iron Man franchise, who isn’t interested in returning to the MCU, as Scarlett Johansson also opened up about her viewpoint on the subject.
Scarlett Johansson brushed off the possibility of her return to the MCU
While appearing on The Goop Podcast alongside her MCU costar Gwyneth Paltrow, the Iron Man 2 actress shared her viewpoint regarding her future with the MCU. Despite the rumors surrounding various MCU heroes’ return to their respective roles in the upcoming Avengers films, it seems that Scarlett Johansson will not be among the ones to reprise their role. The actress clarified that she is now officially done with the MCU chapter in her life and is ready to move on. She said,
“I’m done. Yes, I’m done… Chapter is over. I did all that I had to do. Also, coming back and playing a character again and again like that, over a decade of time, is such a unique experience.”
Even though the Jojo Rabbit actress has no plans of reprising the role of Natasha Romanoff in the future, she hasn’t backed away from expressing her love for her wonderful journey as Black Widow.
Iron Man Actress credits Kevin Feige for the success of MCU
After making her MCU debut in Iron Man 2 and eventually sacrificing herself in Avengers: Endgame, while making a final appearance in Black Widow, Johansson’s MCU journey has been great to witness. Following her experience in the realms of MCU, the actress went on to commend Kevin Feige for the cinematic universe and its achievements over the years. During the podcast, Johansson chimed in with Gwyneth Paltrow while expressing their admiration for Feige by stating,
“He is. He’s fantastic at it. He’s such a lover of cinema and storytelling. He really is a fan… He loves it. He’s such a fan. He gets so psyched. You know, whenever I get talking to him about something or whatever… an idea, or a project, or even something like… We both are huge Disney [Parks] nerds and we talk about whatever’s going on at the parks and stuff like that.”
Although Johansson has expressed that she is officially done with the character of Black Widow in the MCU, it might not be the last time we’d witness her association with Marvel Studios. Following her work in MCU’s Black Widow, which also comprised her as one of the producers, the Iron Man 2 actress will reportedly return to produce another MCU project in the future.
