Why Didn’t CM Punk Answer Dwayne Johnson’s Call
In a captivating interview at Starrcast III, CM Punk shared an intriguing anecdote involving a phone call from none other than The Rock during a WWE Monday Night Raw episode. During Dwayne Johnson’s visit to a Raw event in Los Angeles in February 2017, where he was filming scenes for his movie Fighting With My Family, he delivered a post-Raw promo. He mentioned that Paige’s victory over AJ Lee for the Divas title inspired the film scene.
As the crowd erupted into chants of “CM Punk,” The Rock took notice and gave the former WWE champion a call, allowing him to experience the fan’s enthusiasm firsthand. However, fate had a different plan, as the call went to voicemail. During his appearance at Starrcast, Punk disclosed that he missed the call because he was in an elevator to take his dog for a walk.
“I’m trying to figure out what’s going on and that weird number comes up again and I’m trying to answer it, but it’s not going through. I had no idea what was going on until I’m done with the walk, ‘Oh, Rock is calling me, live from the Staples Center, okay. This is f—in’ weird.’ I started texting him immediately after that, he got right back to me like, I’m like, ‘Oh, brother! I was trying to answer, I was outside, I was in an elevator.’ It just didn’t work out,” Punk said.
