The 1997 drama-romance film was written and directed by James Cameron, and he was regularly coming up with smash-hit Hollywood films such as Terminators, Aliens, and True Lies. Winslet enjoyed working in the film, but she could not fathom that a particular scene would continue haunting her for the rest of her life.
The scene that she was referring to was the painting scene in the film, where Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio) was painting Rose (Kate Winslet) as one of his French girls in the film. The n*de photo of the actress has survived and it has been circulating through DVD, videos, and parts of the internet. While speaking to Yahoo UK, she stated how she regrets her decision, and fans asking to sign that picture of her, makes her feel uncomfortable.
“I don’t sign that [picture]. It feels very uncomfortable. Why would you do that? People ask me to sign that [picture] a lot.”
Winslet continued that people would also ask her to sign that picture which has been “lifted from a still of the film,” adding that it’s funny and haunting her to see a poor decision after 17 years.
“There’s a photo of it as well that someone has lifted from a still of the film, and that photo gets passed around too. I’m like ‘No! I didn’t mean for it to be a photograph that I would end up seeing still 17 years later. It’s still haunting me. It’s quite funny really.”
However, that film helped her to become an instant A-tier actress, as her performance in the film was outstanding. As a result of her massive fame, she starts drawing comparisons with her Divergent co-stars, Shailene Woodley and Theo James.

In the same interview, Kate Winslet shares how Woodley’s and James’ situation is similar, and it is “no different.” The actress added that the digital age would make their lives more difficult because everything tends to happen quicker than back in the 90s.
“What Shai and Theo are going through right now is exactly the same as what Kate and Leo were going through. It really is not different. In fact, I think it’s probably harder for them, because of the digital world…It’s just happening much faster for them than it probably did for us.”
While Shailene Woodley and Theo James, are going to have difficulty with their explicit scene in the film, Divergent is an outstanding movie that must on be the list of every movie fanatic. It takes its viewers on an intriguing adventure full of action, self-discovery, and a gripping plot. Though it is not true to its source material, it’s a great dystopian tale to watch and enjoy.
