Arnold Schwarzenegger opens up on his fitness regime
Arnold Schwarzenegger is not only a fitness enthusiast who likes to work out every day, but he also holds great knowledge about workouts. At the age of 75, the enthusiast of the actor for workout and health has not lowered a bit. In an interview with Men’s Health, the actor revealed that he rides his bike every day to Gold Gym to pump iron.
He shared his daily workout routine in the interview,
“If it’s a part of the routine I don’t even think about that. I have my bike already mounted on the back of my car, drive down, take it off, and ride the bike… then I go to the gym for 45 minutes to an hour, that’s also routine. It’s always kind of the same thing, I’ll do arms and deltoids one day, and then the next day I do chest and back, calves, abs… and then it repeats itself, that’s the whole week.”
The Commando actor shared numerous tips for getting more out of every workout session. He also gave some essential tips for making the lifts better. If the tip is integrated into workouts, it would maximize muscle growth, stay pain-free, and build strong shoulder muscle.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s workout tip- Use Full Range of Motion
In the interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger made the host work out on a lateral raise machine. He settled in the machine, locked his elbows, and then flared his arms outwards, but Schwarzenegger was not impressed. He asked him to go all the way down and said,
“I don’t hear it clinking.”
As he stopped about a millimeter short of letting the weight stack completely return to its original point, the actor pointed out that it might be costing him gains. He said that for every rep he expects to hear the weight stack clink, and then he would start the next rep. True Lies actor shared,
“Why rob one-tenth of the movement? Which could be—and we don’t know but which could be—one-tenth of the growth?”
Arnold Schwarzenegger explained that many people cut their range of motion by not pushing into the bottom of a squat, stopping just before touching the barbell to the chest during bench press, or maybe missing a millimeter of the lateral rise. However, it affects the workout routine because it reduces the time under tension (a critical muscle-building stimulus), and secondly, the muscles do not get their most lengthened position. Hence the use of a full range of motions may affect the results of the workout.
The actor had also given two more essential tips which included doing proper warm with light reps for workouts and training your rear delts for avoiding hunched shoulders.
