The Arrowverse has finally concluded with The Flash also coming to an end. However, the show that started it all, Stephen Amell’s Arrow holds a special place in the hearts of the fans. After years, there were friendships that were built both on-screen and off-screen. Not only did the actor become close friends with other actors throughout the Arrowverse but also outside of it.
The entire Arrowverse has been spread across different seasons and shows, from crossovers to individual storylines. Some shows managed to make the fans happy while others were utterly disappointing to them. Amell’s series was one which stood in the first category. Despite its conclusion, the audiences were still open to wanting more of Green Arrow and his team. Incidentally, they weren’t the only ones.
Stephen Amell Wanted A Season 9 For Arrow
It was during the peak of the pandemic when an idea struck Stephen Amell. He saw everything that was going on in the world. There were cases rising one after the other. While various shows and movies were forced to halt production, many were continuing and were keeping in mind all the necessary safety measures. Arrow ended its run after eight seasons, but other shows in the Arrowverse were still working on their stories.
“I’m thinking to myself if everything goes to sh*t, why don’t we just do another season of Arrow? Because I want to work.”
He saw how things were going and knew that if worse comes to worse, reviving Oliver Queen from the dead won’t be a bad idea. His idea was to bring back Arrow for a season nine not just because he wanted to work, but because it would also help all the back and forth many actors were having to do from the United States of America to Canada with the quarantine restrictions.
Season 9 Of Arrow Almost Came To Be
Stephen Amell was sure of his decision and called up Greg Berlanti to discuss a possible comeback for the series. Although the proposed idea was a worst-case scenario, both of them were more than open to the idea.
“I said, ‘Look I hope this doesn’t happen but if everything goes to sh*t and you guys can’t get actors up here because of issues about mostly American actors crossing into Canada, and if things can’t be figured out, here’s the deal man. I’m here and if I have to stay here, I want to work. If I’m going to work, let’s just figure out a way to bring Oliver back from the dead.’”
Berlanti even stated that he would love to make a ninth season if that was ever an opportunity presented to him. If things really were to go down an unfortunate path, which they did not, the ninth season of Arrow would have been a saving grace for the fans as well as the CW.
