Andrew Garfield is best known for his role as Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man series. Though it is quite a controversial question about who the best Spider-Man is, the fact is undeniable that any actor who takes up this role will always have big shoes to fill. Andrew Garfield Found Being Spider-Man Very Challenging For Him
Andrew Garfield was a big fan of Spider-Man growing up. He had quite a big influence on him and was someone he looked up to. During an interview with Tobey Maguire, he opened up about watching his Spider-Man. So, naturally, it was quite a challenge for him to take up the role.
“I see it as a massive challenge in many ways… To make it authentic. To make the character live and breathe in a new way. The audience already has a relationship with many different incarnations of the character.” He said, “I do, as well. I’m probably going to be the guy in the movie theater shouting abuse at myself. But I have to let that go. No turning back. And I wouldn’t want to.”
Garfield talked about it being challenging for him to live up to the standard that Maguire set, along with making his Peter Parker unique in his own way. He even added that he would be critical of anyone in his shoes. He did not want to turn back from the role and let it go.
Andrew Garfield Cried When He Wore His Spider-Man Suit For The First Time
Andrew Garfield worked very hard for his role as Spider-Man. From learning how to move like a spider to taking pilates and yoga. He also talked about how the process was quite emotional for him.
The actor admitted to crying the first time he put on the suit, stating that he couldn’t help but imagine the face of someone better than him instead of him. He also jokes about never thinking spandex would make him that emotional.
