Florence Pugh is finally stepping into the world of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. She had already confirmed that the actress would be taking up the role of Princess Irulan in the sequel and that had already made the fans extremely excited for what is to come. While there were minor jokes about who the actress would be playing and how she keeps getting reunited with Timothee Chalamet, it was still a mystery as to what she would look like as the character.
The first look of her character has finally been released with the release of the trailer for Dune: Part Two also following suit. Her character has also kept a mystery for a while before it was eventually released. The actress has grown in the industry almost in a magnitudinal manner.
Princess Irulan Was Perfect For Florence Pugh
Everyone who is a part of the movie has constantly been praising Florence Pugh for her performance as Princess Irulan in Dune: Part Two. Timothee Chalamet and Christopher Walken expressed their awe when they came to see the talent that lies within the actress. The first look that was shared made it evident how perfect it was to cast her as the Princess and how impactful her acting is going to be in the movie.
“She has something inherently royal about her. I will definitely believe that Florence could become, in the future, a prime minister.”
The cast is already star-studded and the second movie is set to focus on Zendaya’s character Chani. The movie already has great hype since the first part performed exceptionally well. Those who have seen her act in the film already have nothing but praise for the actress and they were all mesmerized by just how determined she is. She is sure of what she is doing and how she is doing it, bringing an entirely new kind of enthusiasm to the otherwise monotonous set.
Her role will revolve around her being an integral character while also proving to be a barrier between Chani and Paul in terms of the love and attraction they have for each other.
Who Is Princess Irulan?
Daughter of the 81st Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV, Princess Irulan stands to be the eldest amongst her other four sisters. In the book, she is described to be tall and blonde with a look of sheer determination focusing her toward her destiny. Written by Frank Herbert, she made her debut in the first book itself with a majority of her character being developed throughout the course of Dune Messiah.
“A tall blonde woman, green-eyed, a face of patrician beauty, classic in its hauteur, untouched by tears, completely undefeated.”
Princess Irulan is also trained by the Bene Gesserit, holding a hidden rank within them as well. She is even seen as an Imperial Consort of Paul, being a wife just for the title of it. Irulan is the only one to survive amongst Chani, Paul, and her. After the death of Chani and Paul himself, running in the desert awaiting his own death, the Princess is who remains to take care of their now orphaned children.
Dune: Part Two will be available to watch in theatres from 2nd November 2023.
