While James Gunn's DCU and Kevin Feige's MCU Suffer Catastrophic Failures, a $5.2B Franchise is Annihilating All Competition in Streaming

There was a time when DCEU and MCU used to rule fans’ hearts with their fabulous VFX and unique storyline movies and TV series. However, after winning fame and growing with films like the Avengers series and Man of Steel, both DC Extended Universe and Marvel Cinematic Universe seem to be heading towards a catastrophic failure with their newly released movies – DC’s The Flash and Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

But while these two multi-billionaire fandoms are going towards potential crisis, the $5.2B Avatar franchise has been gaining much edge over others and annihilating all competition in streaming with the extraordinary VFX and storyline of its newly released movie, Avatar: The Way of Water.

By releasing disastrous movies like The Flash and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the future of Kevin Feige‘s MCU and James Gunn‘s DCU seems to be in potential danger. But in the meanwhile, the $5.2B Avatar franchise has managed to steal the audience’s hearts and rule the list of streaming with the release of its recent blockbuster, Avatar: The Way of Water.

After its marvelous success in the theatres, the sequel to the Avatar (2009) movie is now headed to annihilate all streaming competition as well. As per recent reports, Avatar: The Way of Water has ranked at the top in the list of streaming viewership a mere month after being released on Disney+ and Max, creating an unbreakable record for being played for 1.9B minutes in the first five days of it getting uploaded, also passing its biggest competitor with 400M minutes of viewing time.

The $5.2B franchise’s new movie is one that fan’s just can’t get enough of, judging how the movie is still topping the charts even after 6 months of its release on the big screens. The remarkable visual effects and incredible storyline of Avatar: The Way of Water seem to have put the fans under a spell as the film goes on to achieve outstanding success in both theatres and streaming giants.

Over a decade after the $5.2B franchise’s first Avatar movie was released in 2009, its sequel too, has managed to break records and peak charts in no time since its worldwide broadcasting on the big screens in December 2022. While Avatar still holds the title of being the highest-grossing movie of all time, its sequel has managed to rank third in the list, widely surpassing the long-time position-holding blockbuster movie Titanic.

Grossing a whopping $2.32B worldwide, Avatar: The Way of Water has broken multiple box-office records as well, one of them making James Cameron the only filmmaker with 3 of his films grossing above $2B. The $5.2B franchise sequel even returned to IMAX theatres, nearly five months after its release, in honor of Earth Day in April 2023.

For whatever it’s worth, now whenever someone will say a ‘bright future’ of a franchise, the first name that comes to fans’ mind won’t be Kevin Feige’s MCU or James Gunn’s DCU, but rather the fans-favorite $5.2 billion Avatar franchise!
