The release of Avengers: Endgame marked an end to the first three phases of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.11 years and 22 films later we’ve come to the conclusion of what has been dubbed as the Infinity Saga.
For years the fans flocked to theaters to witness their favorite superheroes take on the vicious ones of their titled film. We watched them save the world a countless number of times. As we fell in love with the superheroes, we couldn’t help but subconsciously fall for the people who gave life to them as well. Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johannson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and the entire star cast of the Infinity Saga holds a special place in our hearts today and it’s always a delight watching them on the silver screen. Let’s have a look at what these stars are up to in 2020:
Chris Evans
Evans made his first film appearance after Endgame on a Netflix espionage theme film called The Red Sea Diving Resort. He later starred alongside Daniel Craig in a mystery-comedy titled Knives Out. While Evans might be done for the year after successfully releasing Defending Jacob on Apple Tv earlier in April, he recently unveiled that he’s working alongside Ryan Gosling for a Netflix spy thriller titled The Gray Man.
Robert Downey Jr.
While it was being rumored that Downey might make his final appearance as the character of Tony Stark in Scarlet Johannson’s Black Widow, Downey recently shut the rumors in an interview and said he’s ‘done with Marvel and Iron Man’. His first release of 2020 was Dr. Dolittle and the star is currently working in the production of Sherlock Holmes 3 which comes out in 2021. Not much word on his film with Jammie Fox, titled All-Star Weekend is out yet.
Chris Hemsworth
Hemsworth made a buzz this year already with his action-packed thriller Extraction released in April. However, we are in to miss his presence in cinemas for some time now. The actor who is known to the world for his role of Thor is currently working on retrieving the same character for MCU’s Thor: Love and Thunder which hits theaters somewhere around 2022. Hemsworth has also been selected to star in a biopic of wrestling superstar Hulk Hogan, the release of which is unknown as of now.
Scarlett Johannson
After the Avenger Endgame in 2019, Scarlett Johannson delivered two critically-acclaimed performances in 2019 namely Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit. She will up-next be seen in the standalone film of Black Widow, the third and final movie from Marvel Studios in 2020. The film will be hitting theaters on October 28. She will be voicing the character of Ash in Sing 2 and is also rumored to star in Little Shop of Horrors as Audrey.
Mark Ruffalo
Mark Ruffalo has been on a spree of praiseworthy work since the Endgame. In 2019, the drama-thriller Dark Water won the star several awards and got critical acclamation. Earlier this summer Ruffalo starred in HBO’s miniseries titled I Know This Much Is True. While it’s in rumors that Ruffalo might feature in the coming TV series of She-hulk, he is currently said to be working on the assassination drama of JFK titled Newsflash
Jeremy Renner
Jeremy Renner’s association with Marvel studios is far from over. He’s currently gearing up for his TV show titled Hawkeye in which his character of Clint Barton will be shown will be training Kate Bishop in order for her to carry on the Hawkeye mantle. Jeremy Renner since Endgame has voiced for a character in an animated movie titled Arctic Dogs and has released his first EP titled The Medicine.
Benedict Cumberbatch
With the sequel of Doctor Strange in works, Benedict Cumberbatch has managed to keep himself occupied since the Endgame. In 2019 alone he starred in two films and lent his voice for an animated short film. Earlier this year he featured in Dominic Cooke’s The Courier. Cumberbatch’s next would the biopic of the prolific English artist Louis Wain. The release date of the film is said to be out soon.
Tom Holland
Post Endgame, Tom Holland was the first superhero to feature in Marvel’s newest production. Since then Tom has voiced for various characters in movies like Dolittle, Onward, and Spies In Disguise. He would next be seen working alongside Robbert Pattinson in a fictional film titled The Devil All The Time which hits theaters this month on 16 September. His next projects include Doug Liman’s Chaos Walking and Ruben Fleischer’s directed Uncharted which comes out next year.
Paul Rudd
In 2019, Rudd was seen on Netflix’s comedy-drama Living with Yourself where he plays the lead role of George Elliot. Last fall, he also featured in another comedy film Between Two Ferns for a small role alongside Zach Galifianakis. While his 2020 release Ghostbusters: Afterlife stands delayed to 2021, Rudd is said to be soon getting to work for his Ant-Man sequel the title of which is yet to be revealed.
Brie Larson
Brie Larson last year shared the screen with Michael B. Jordan in a legal drama titled Just Mercy. Brie Larson’s debut as Captain Marvel in the MCU was well received. The film which made a billion dollars at the box office is reportedly in works for its sequel. Captain Marvel 2 is eyeing a potential 2022 release. The details about the film’s plot are under wraps but the new story will reportedly shift the context from the 1990s of the original film to the present day.
Chadwick Boseman
The late actor Chadwick Boseman left millions in grieve when he passed away last month after battling colon cancer for 4 years. In 2019, despite cancer, Boseman delivered an exceptional performance in Netflix’s 21 Bridges. Earlier in June this year, he starred in a war-dram film titled Da 5 Bloods which was critically well acclaimed. Fans will be blessed with his final film, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which is scheduled to be released later this year.
