Charlie Hunnam has no problem with nudity or sexual images. The actor clarified his statements at every chance he could get after dropping out of Fifty Shades of Grey. After Hunnam was almost confirmed for the lead role with Dakota Johnson’s Anastasia Steele in the franchise, the Sons of Anarchy actor backed out at the last moment.
After the controversial decision to quit, Charlie Hunnam clarified that he did not back out due to reasons of nudity. Citing the reason as scheduling conflicts, Hunnam revealed that he had already done frontal nudity on national television when he was 18 years old!
Charlie Hunnam Has No Problem With The Nudity
In an interview, the actor revealed that he dropped out of Fifty Shades of Grey due to scheduling conflicts. He had to work with director Guillermo Del Toro on Crimson Peak, alongside filming his famous series Sons of Anarchy.
Although the reason for dropping out was genuine, fans questioned whether Hunnam backed out due to the intense amount of nudity and sexual activities present in the movie. Recalling the 1999 series Queer as Folk, Charlie Hunnam reminded the audience that he was “getting f***ed in the a**” when he was 18 years of age!
“When I was 18 I was getting f***ed in the a**, completely naked on national TV, you know? I did full frontal when I was 18 on the TV show Queer as Folk. But because I was playing a 15-year-old character, the censorship people wouldn’t allow us to put it on TV,”
The British television show Queer as Folk depicted the lives of three gay friends living in Manchester and featured Aidan Gillen (from Game of Thrones fame) and Craig Kelly, along with Charlie Hunnam.
Charlie Hunnam Is All Set To Work With Zack Snyder For Rebel Moon!
In an interview with Variety, veteran director Zack Snyder showcased his updates on his upcoming magnum opus Rebel Moon. With a variety of images, the director also featured Charlie Hunnam in the avatar of Kai, a pilot who will lead the resistance alongside the protagonist, Kora.
The King Arthur: Legend of the Sword actor even revealed that he received considerable injuries while filming the movie that would take quite some time to heal completely.
“I just finished doing the Zack Snyder film and got injured again. I have a totally exploded S1 [areas that affect the hips and groin] and S2 [the back of the thighs] that are torn wide open, a hundred percent dehydrated. It’s going to take two years to heal, and I have a 40 percent tear on the ligament on the right side that holds my spinal column in place.”
With broken bodies and no shame for nudity, Charlie Hunnam will be next seen in Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon, when the movie releases on 22nd December 2023 on Netflix.
