Chris Rock’s Selective Outrage on Netflix was a hilarious live event that talked about a number of topics and one of them was Meghan Markle’s in-laws showing concern about the baby’s skin color. The comedian explained how everyone in contemporary society wants to play the victim card and how everyone in America loves attention.
After The comments of Meghan Markle, a concern rose over racism in the royal family and in British society as a whole. However, Chris Rock roasted the Duchess of Sussex because the concern for skin color was not racism, and it was typical in-law behavior.
Chris Rock Roasts The Duchess of Sussex
On 7th March 2021, The Oprah Winfrey Show featured Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the show, and the Duchess of Sussex stated how some members of the royal family are concerned about the skin color of her baby.
Chris Rock slams Meghan Markle’s claims of racism in the royal family, the comedian began the bit by how society loves to present themselves as victims, how Markle had a lighter skin tone, and how “she didn’t know nothing.”
Chris argued Meghan Markle’s comment on The Oprah Winfrey Show, “‘I didn’t know, I had no idea how racist they were.'” The comedian stated that she knew what she was doing and how the Royal family was intertwined with a dark past full of colonialism and slavery.
“Everybody trying to be a victim. Meghan Markle, seem like a nice lady, just complaining. I was like ‘Didn’t she hit the light-skin lottery?’ Acting all dumb like she didn’t know nothing. Going on Oprah, ‘I didn’t know, I had no idea how racist they were.’ It’s the royal family! You didn’t Google those motherf***ers? What the f**k is she talking about, she didn’t know?”
“The f**k? It’s the royal family, they’re the original racists. They invented colonialism. They’re the OGs of racism. They’re the Sugarhill Gang of racism. Like, ‘a hip, hop, the hippie, the hippie to the hip hip hop-a don’t stop — the racism.'”
Chris Rock gave some hilarious comparisons to criticize her comments.
“The f**k? She talking about ‘I didn’t know.’ That’s like marrying into the Budweiser family and going they drink a lot. The f**k? She talking about. These motherf**kers invested in slavery like it was ‘Shark Tank.’”
It is true because when Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, she knew she will be a part of the royal family, and how the royal family had slaves during the colonial period, and it is hilarious to learn that she didn’t know about her in-law’s past, and what she faced was not racism and it was just typical in-law behavior, and everyone was curious about the color of her baby.
“Some of that sh*t she went through was not racism, it was just some in-law sh*t. Because she’s complaining, I’m like, ‘What the f**k is she talking about? ‘They’re so racist, they wanted to know how brown the baby was going to be…’ I’m like, ‘That’s not racist,’ cause’ even Black people want to know how brown the baby gon’ be. Sh*t. We check behind them ears.”
The fans enjoyed the bit by Chris Rock because the concern for the baby’s skin color is not racism but pure curiosity because people often wonder what the ethnicity of a baby would be.
Meghan Markle’s Comments About Racism on The Oprah Winfrey Show
During The Oprah Winfrey Show, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were on the show, and she explained that she faced racism in the family when she was pregnant, and how dark her son would be.
“In those months when I was pregnant, all around this same time, we have in tandem the conversation of he won’t be given security, he’s not going to be given a title, and also concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born.”
The host was surprised to hear this and asked if she would reveal that family member, however, she didn’t reveal the name. Later Prince Harry stated he was not comfortable sharing his son’s skin tone and that their relationship in the palace would not be easy.
