Nicolas Cage has led an exemplary career and continues to do so. An Oscar winner, SAG awardee, and Golden Globe recipient, Cage has tried his hands at almost all genres in the industry. The multifaceted actor has even tried his hands in the world of superheroes, back when he starred as Ghost Rider.
A captivating performer, he truly immerses himself in each role he undertakes, effortlessly transitioning between the real and reel life. Thanks to his unique ability, there are some fans who would love to have Cage back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the National Treasure actor couldn’t care any less.
Nicolas Cage Does Not Care About His MCU Future
A man of many talents, Nicolas Cage was recently awarded Variety Legend And Groundbreaker Award for his contribution to the world of cinema and his illustrious career. Upon receiving the award, the actor reflected on his journey and the roles he has played over his four decades-long career. While talking about MCU and his wish to return, the Ghost Rider star revealed,
“I’ve gotta be nice about Marvel movies, because I named myself after a Stan Lee character named Luke Cage. What am I going to do, put Marvel movies down? Stan Lee is my surrealistic father. He named me.”
When asked whether he would like to be a part of the MCU, he replied
“I don’t need to be in the MCU, I’m Nic Cage.”
And then he added on about the state of superhero movies today,
“I understand what the frustration is. I get it. But I think there’s plenty of room for everybody. I’m seeing movies like ‘Tár.’ I’m seeing all kinds of artistic and independently driven movies. I think there’s plenty of room for everybody.”
Well, to quote Cage, since there is plenty of room for everybody, it only makes sense that he returns as the best Ghost Rider fans have ever seen.
Nicolas Cage Finally Gets To Play His Favorite Superhero
Ever since he was a little boy, Cage has been obsessed with DC’s Kryptonian Crusader, Superman. Even naming his second son after him, the Lord of War star has often spoken up about his admiration for Superman.
After having been part of the MCU in Ghost Rider and Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse, Cage has had his childhood fantasy fulfilled in the recently released The Flash. As Flash travels across multiple universes, viewers can spot Cage in the legendary red and blue suit, busy fighting a giant monster.
Even if it was for a brief moment, Cage is finally among the few actors who have been in both major superhero universes.
You can stream Ghost Rider on Netflix, while The Flash is in cinemas now.
