James Gunn recently took over the helms of DC Universe and the franchise has not come out with flying colors under his reign so far. The Flash movie hit the theatres after a long wait earlier this month and turned out to be nothing but a huge disappointment to fans of the franchise. Although the movie turned out to be a massive failure, it still managed to reboot the universe with the concept of Flashpoint, and now the stage is all set for a new era in the DCU.
Superman: Legacy will be one of the most important movies of the new DCU and David Corenswet will now take up the mantle of Man of Steel in the new reboot of the cinematic universe. However, according to James Gunn, we will not be seeing an origin story of Superman this time in Superman: Legacy.
Superman: Legacy Will Not Show the Origin Story of Superman
James Gunn has previously hinted at not showing an origin story for Superman in the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie despite it being a fresh start to the DCU. The co-CEO of the DCU recently took to Bluesky and explained his reasoning behind his decision and wrote,
“I think we’ve his origin enough in film at this point.“

It makes sense to not show Superman’s origin story in the upcoming movie as his origin story has already been shown a lot on many movies and TV shows in the past. Even Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel covered the origin story of Superman.
Fans react to James Gunn’s announcement about Superman: Legacy
Fans of DCU took to Twitter to react to James Gunn’s announcement about Superman: Legacy and most of the fans agreed with the decision to not show Superman’s origin story once again.
One fan agreed with Gunn’s decision and added that even Batman’s origin story has been shown a lot.
The fans not wanting to see the origin stories of the two leading superheroes of DC is one of the reasons that Robert Pattinson’s The Batman movie did not cover the origin story of The Dark Knight in the movie.
However, a lot of fans also argued that origin stories are somewhat important when the studio is rebooting the universe.
Warner Bros recently announced that David Corenswet will be taking up the role of Superman in the new era of DCU and is all set to replace Henry Cavill in the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie. Rachel Brosnahan will take up the role of Lois Lane in the movie.
