Quentin Tarantino has delivered some of the biggest hits in Hollywood. He is a well-known filmmaker worldwide and is looked up to by many aspiring filmmakers. He is well-known for his excellent work, especially with his own auteur of presenting gore and grit with excellent cinematography.
The 60-year-old director has collaborated with celebrities such as Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Samuel L. Jackson, and Channing Tatum. But there was a time when Disney stymied Tarantino’s film’s release.
Quentin Tarantino claimed that Disney wanted to ruin him and his movie The Hateful Eight
The Hateful Eight movie was released on the big screen on 15 January 2016. But even after the release of the movie, the Western drama film couldn’t make it to Los Angeles’s Cinerama Dome. Reportedly, Disney’s movie Stars War was supposed to play all season at the Cinerama Dome and therefore Disney didn’t want the Cinerama Dome to screen The Hateful Eight. Quentin Tarantino talked about how Disney wanted to ruin his movie’s screening at Los Angeles’s biggest theatre Cinerama Dome.
The Django Unchained director made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show where he talked about how Disney treated his movie and curbed the theatre to screen it during the holiday season. While talking about Disney the 60-year-old director said,
“They’ve got the biggest movie in the world. We’re talking about one effing theater … they are going out of their way to f*ck me. It’s vindictive, it’s mean and it’s extortion. They literally threatened the Arclight.”
The Pulp Fiction Director was very disappointed by the way Disney treated him and his movie. Reportedly, Tarantino’s film The Hateful Eight was supposed to get two weeks of screening at Cinerama Dome but it was refused to him because of Disney.
Quentin Tarantino said he wasn’t sure why Disney didn’t want his film to be released at Cinerama Dome
While discussing the mistreatment that Tarantino and his film Tarantino suffered from Disney, he stated that he was unsure of Disney’s aim. He additionally said that he is unsure why the media company did not want his film to be shown at the Cinerama Dome. Howard Stern, the show’s presenter, asked Tarantino to contact the CEO of Disney and offered to assist him in doing so through his show.
The Hateful Eight still went ahead to make 156 million dollars; as for Tarantino, the director is currently working on his final film, The Movie Critic which is set to come out in 2024.
