Ace actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger is a legendary bodybuilder. He has won several championships like Mr. Universe and Mr. Olympia titles. He is very strict about his health and fitness, even at 75, he never misses workout sessions. The Terminator star is a fitness inspiration for millions, and undoubtedly people want his approval when they are on their fitness journey.
However, the Commando star does not hold back on his words when he is approached for an opinion. His comment on Edward Norton’s bodybuilding and weight transformation is not digestible for everyone.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s nasty comment on Edward Norton’s workout
Edward Norton became a recognized face from his debut film Primal Fear, which earned him an Academy Award nomination and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor. The actor has worked hard on his body for the role in American History X, where he plays the role of a white power skinhead whole goes to prison for manslaughter.
The actor has to shape his body in a certain way to get a rogue and bulky look. Hence, he completely changed his workout and diet plan. After he was satisfied with his look, he shared his routine with bodybuilding star Arnold Schwarzenegger, but he was not much impressed.
As per Men’s Health, Edward Norton said on Jimmy Kimmel Live show that Schwarzenegger didn’t think he was challenging himself enough with his training. The Fight Club star said,
“I was starting to train for American History X, and Arnold said ‘You look good, you look trim.’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m actually going to put on some size, so maybe you could give me some advice.’ And he asked me to break down my workouts. And I was pretty proud, I was slinging a lot of steel back then!’”
But when he shared his routine with Schwarzenegger, the latter expected more from him.
“I told him my whole workout, and he goes ‘yeah, that’s pretty good, you doing two a day?’ And I said, ‘no, just once a day,’ and he goes, ‘Well that’s pretty pussy, Ed.’”
American History X was released in 1998.
Edward Norton’s workout routine failed to impress Arnold Schwarzenegger
The Incredible Hulk fame Edward Norton went through intense training regiment to achieve the desired body for American History X. He shared in an interview withMen’s Journal,
“I knew this guy was going to have to be really physically fearsome and defined by his rage. Arming himself against his own emotional pain, and this body he’s created is the physical manifestation of that.”
To get in his best shape, The Illusionist actor also switched up his diet to ensure he consumed a higher number of calories. He ate five meals a day and supplemented his meals with protein shakes. Norton also did squats and presses without breaks, which assisted in his muscle growth and burning calories.
Edward Norton’s film was critically acclaimed, and the actor received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
