His portrayal turned out to be quite terrific which ultimately brought his talent in front of Hollywood. However, many fans might be surprised to know that this talent has already been a part of the Harry Potter franchise. However, his joining came long after he was kicked out for throwing a ‘dirty’ joke.

Jamie Campbell in an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast opened up about leaving a nasty impression while auditioning for the titular role in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. He recalled meeting the film director, Chris Columbus in the audition where he was asked to prepare a joke. But, the actor decided to throw in an inappropriate joke that turned out to become the very reason why the actor got kicked out.

Recalling his audition, he mentioned,

” … I had just heard this joke about a fairy, like, the reason why the fairy sits on top of the Christmas tree, and it’s a really, like, dirty joke, because it’s about the Christmas tree up somebody’s bottom. And I told this joke in the audition, and there was again, this sort of, like… air of just like silence after I said it. And I was like, ‘Well… f**ked that up.'”

While things felt bitter at the end of the audition since the silence was enough to hint at the results, he was able to enter the franchise years later. As for the main part, it eventually was nabbed by Daniel Radcliffe who gained global stardom with his portrayal.

Though it must have been quite a disappointing thing for the then-young actor, he was able to enter into the franchise through a small role years later. He portrayed the role of a younger version of wizard, Gellert Grindelwald which became quite significant as he reprised it in the franchise’s spin-off sequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

However, his role in the magical franchise was quite later recognized when he played the antagonist role in Millie Bobby Brown‘s Stranger Things. He portrayed the role of Vecna in the film who is most likely to return in the upcoming season to pay back Brown’s Eleven for what she did to him.
The fifth season is currently in the works meanwhile the series is available on Netflix.
